Kokesh’s Virginia conviction
Chief Tango sends us a link to the Washington Post which reports that, in Fairfax County, Virginia yesterday, Adam Kokesh, IVAW member, was convicted of drug and gun charges;
Kokesh, 32, entered an Alford plea in Circuit Court to two felonies related to his possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms while possessing a gun. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges that prosecutors have enough evidence to obtain a conviction.

Prosecutors said Thursday that police found 10 guns and drugs, including LSD, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and mushrooms.
So he goes back to court in September for sentencing – he faces 15 years on those charges. He still on probation from his guilty plea in DC for loading a shotgun on the streets of that city for a video. I’ve watched Kokesh get arrested for his various antics no less than five times since he first came on our radar back in 2007. If my memory still serves me, these two arrests are the first time he was actually sentenced to anything. I guess he thought he was bullet proof and he kept upping the ante.
In response to a judge’s questions Thursday, Kokesh said he had “deliberately made an act of civil disobedience” by creating the video. But he said he had not anticipated that it would lead to the raid on his Snowflake Court home.
Yeah, well, his luck had to run out eventually.

Living on “Snowflake Court” is IMO absolutely, poetically apropos for a special little snowflake like Kokesh who thinks the law doesn’t apply to him.

There is an appropriate forum for civil disobedience, but adding controlled substances and firearms to the mix is a fairly unwise combination under any circumstances.
Snowflake Court is just off Sparkle Pony Drive and across the street from the Skittle Shitting Unicorn Dry Cleaners.

Well, if it’s the Snowflake Court in Herndon, VA (which is in Fairfax County) – Google Maps says it’s less than 1/2 mile away from the Herndon Police Station. That might have something to do with why they paid him a visit shortly after his little rant with his shotgun in DC.

Well, CWORet – “Va. court convicts drug-addled idiot Adam Kokesh” just doesn’t have the same resonance with the WaPo’s rapidly shrinking audience. So they kinda need to stick with what sells papers to those few remaining subscribers, accuracy be damned.
What I hate is the lead in sentence the Post uses:

Now they’ve lumped him in with those who legitimately lobby for the rights of gun owners and he becomes the poster child for gun grabbers everywhere.
Well he does have a point. When was David Gregory’s sentencing hearing for his conviction of possessing an illegal 30 round magazine on NBC’s Meet the Depressed?
That happened the same day Gregory’s home was raided and they pulled all of the CDS from it. Yes, it was technically illegal what Gregory did. I don’t insist that I be issued a ticket when the cop who pulled me over wants to give me a pass.
As we all know the only ting Kokesh really advocates for is Kokesh. Anything to keep his silly mug in the public eye. He’s a first class attention whore. Pretty ironic that he lived in Snowflake Court. I’ll bet the entrance has a unicorn fountain that farts rainbows.

Mr. Kokesh loves the freedoms he has to protest, to assemble, to rail against what he beleives to be a flawed system. However, for some reason can’t get it thorough his thick skull that by living in the U.S., he is obliged to abide by its laws, even though he may consider those laws unjust. He should spend more time reading Plato and Locke and less time perusing “Constitutional Law for Dummies”.
