Former Marine dies in LOD, New Bern, NC

| April 1, 2014

Rick sends us a link to the news that former Marine Lance Corporal Alexander E. Thalmann died in the line if duty in New Berne, North Carolina during a routine stop;

“Something just told me to look out the window. I see [Bryan Stallings, the shooter] coming up and see him putting the bike down. I’m seeing the police car pull up and asking him to ‘come here’. He was like, ‘sir why are you stopping me’ and I guess it was because of the bike because he did not have a light, but he did have a light on the bike,” Jarman said.

Jarman said that Officer Thalmann and Stallings spoke for some time, and then Thalmann called for backup. “All I know is a minivan pulled up and more police got out,” Jarman said. She said she could tell that Stallings was upset. She said police started surrounding Stallings. “He cooperated though. He did everything. He just got mad and upset, because all these police were just coming,” Jarman said.

Jarman said she thinks he might have been afraid of getting caught with the gun he had on him…She said he’d told her several times he would never go to prison again.

Stallings had previous convictions, and it looks like he might have been a sex offender.

If he didn’t want to go back to jail, he shouldn’t have had a gun on him in the first place.

Prayers out to the family of the fallen officer

Considering the guy’s record, he’d have gone back to prison for something, sooner or later.
Rest in Peace, brother.

May Officer Thalmann rest in peace.

WTF is with these freaking people even trying to remotely blame the cops… “he was just scared of going back to prison”… Fuck. He didn’t cooperate, he was illegaly carrying a gun, and used it to kill a Cop!

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Known scumbag kills officer, that’s about the worse outcome I can think of…

I’m hoping said known scumbag reaps the Karma he has been sowing….

My thoughts and prayers to the family, RIP young Officer Thalmann you were taken far too soon.

Former Marine Lance Corporal Alexander E. Thalmann, Rest in Peace Sir. May God bless your family in their time of grief and mourning. None of that will bring you back though. I believe NC still has the death penalty. Shame is, while incarcerated, he will be considered a hero by fellow inmates for killing a police officer. He should get a prison guard beat down every day of his miserable life until they stick the needle in his arm. When he is finally strapped down on that gurney, they should work him over one last time with the nightsticks. There is not enough pain and punishment for this guy to endure. He deserves it…all. Sorry folks, I sound harsh because…I am. A routine traffic stop and a young officer is dead because of one of societies little problem children. No doubt the anti-death penalty folks will be holding candle light vigils for him the night he assumes room temperature. Not soon enough for me.

“District Attorney Scott Thomas is reviewing the investigation to determine whether the shooting of the suspect was justified. He said all indications show that the shooting was justified. Thomas said the investigation will take at least two weeks.”

Are you fucking kidding me………

Ex-PH2

They are required to do an investigation like that, regardless.

My hometown. Very disturbing and very shocking to the community. Scumbag actually shot 2 officers, but one was released pretty quickly. Rest in Peace officer Thalmann.

Just An Old Dog

For the life of me I can’t see why the news would want to interveiw then print the account of the incident as stated by a “friend” of the piece of shit criminal.
Nobody gives a shit about what some crackhead has to say about a felon’s supposed motivation for his muderous actions.

Well, not a juatification by any means, but their is some context to the timeline.

The officers killed the douchebag outright so when the local article came out, only the perp was dead. Officer Thalmann died of his injuries later after that interview. The other shot officer was released quickly.

Again not justifying anything the news media did but at the time, the only deceased person was the scumbag perp so that’s where the news was.

It’s a shock to the community becuase New Bern, NC is just not that big of a city that has cops fatally shot on a regular basis. I am not sure but this may be the first LODD of a police officer in the city. If not it has been a very long time since I have lived there since 1985 and I can’t remember the last time an officer was shot let alone killed.
