Security to blame for Serena Hotel attack
Thursday there was an attack on the Serena Hotel in Kabul which cost the lives of nine people according to the Associated Press. AP claims that they’ve seen the video from the time of the attack, and clearly shows the terrorists being searched moments before they began their bloodbath executions;
The question of how the gunmen penetrated the tight security of the Serena hotel – considered one of the safest spots in the Afghan capital – with pistols and ammunition is one of the biggest mysteries surrounding Thursday’s attack. Afghan authorities have said the attackers hid the weaponry in the soles of their shoes, wrapped in plastic. Interior Ministry spokesman Seddiq Seddiqi displayed the tiny pistols, which fit in the palm of a hand, ammunition and large shoes at a press conference on Friday.
But the three-story hotel is surrounded by a fence and visitors must pass through two gates and a metal detector before crossing a courtyard to the lobby entrance. Bombings and shootings are common in Afghanistan, and many establishments have guests searched before allowing them to enter.
So, after decades of learning how to provide security for themselves and potential targets of terror attacks, terrorists are still able to find ways around those security measures, and it looks as though all they need to do is wear clown shoes and stuff them full of guns and ammo.
I only mention this because these are the people who are going to be responsible for our residual force in Afghanistan whenever this administration can hammer out an agreement. The generals are talking about leaving 10,000 Americans there, and that’s certainly not enough to do the job they’re staying there to accomplish, let alone provide their own 24-hour security in any meaningful and successful way. And this proves that the Afghans aren’t capable of protecting themselves in a “gun-free zone”.

Gee, that almost looks like the attackers might have had someone on their side in the local security forces. But that can’t be the case – that would never happen in Afghanistan!
(I hope the sarcasm above is obvious.)
Hey, Karzai said that they don’t need us stinkin’ American’s in his shithole country so why are we trying to hammer out anything with them? Let’s just pack our shit and go home.
It won’t happen, of course, but my opinion is that every single US casualty suffered since President Mom-Jeans announced our withdrawal should be a charge against him of negligent homicide. Every. Single. One.
GoFo’s are already held, like other officers, to a standard of conduct that subjects them to investigations if operations don’t go as planned, when things go bad. The Commander in Chief ought to be held to at least that same standard.
Tell me again why we are leaving ANYONE behind in that God-forsaken place?
