Karzai releases 65 “violent” prisoners to appease Taliban masters

| February 14, 2014

From Stars & Stripes comes the news that the taliban’s man in the Afghan government, Hamid Karzai ordered the release of 65 prisoners from the military prison at Bagram. Prisoners that the US government calls “violent…who harm Afghans”. But, you know, when the Taliban tells Karzai to jump, he asks “how high”?

The U.S. has claimed the release violates an agreement the Afghan government made to gain control of the prison, wherein they guaranteed the prisoners would not be released without facing trial. Kabul has defended the move, saying there was not enough evidence to hold the prisoners.

NATO’s top official also expressed concern over the Afghan decision to release the 65 detainees.

“This decision, which appears to have been made based on political calculations and without regard for due process before the Afghan courts, is a major step backwards for the rule of law in Afghanistan, and poses serious security concerns,” Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement.

Of course, on the bright side, it will be much easier to drone their asses now that they’re out and about. Maybe the Taliban can give them bomb classes like the one in Iraq last week. I hear those classes have a real impact on the students.

It sounds like the case of the current Attorney General wanting to restore voting rights for convicted felons.

If this was a Tom Clancy novel, we’d release them, but we’d have implanted a tracking device in their bloodstream or something so we’d know where all their caves are…

I know there is a God, or Allah or Buddha or who the fuck ever circling around up in Heaven or Valhalla or Paradise. That divine entity must ensure that 10 minutes after the Taliban re-occupy Afghanistan, Karzai is starring in a beheading video. Treacherous, double talking piece of shit. He has sold his countrymen out and he has sold the United States out. There is no ending that will be painful enough for him in my book.

“Those classes have a real impact on the students.”

Yes, they should have an extensive curriculum that ensures a very low number of graduates.

So is all of Karzai’s turncoat behavior because we’re pulling out and he’s losing money? Or is it because he’s just a plain ol’ coward trying to butter both sides of his bread?

NavyChief

I like O’Reilly’s solution: Send in the Special Forces to take care of them quietly.

Ex-Ph2, both. He knows that America, once we’ve left, will wash its hands of Afghanistan and Iraq. We’ve done it before, why should this be any different? He’s trying to save his own butt when the hammer falls. It won’t do any good though.

We really need to just pack up and leave, find all our money he has stolen, take all our toys with us and just drop a MOAB on his head.

Ex-PH2

I do know that there are people over there now who are packing the place up to leave. They’ve been there since October. I just wish that whatever they can’t take with them will be damaged beyond any further use.

So we fought to round em up and get em in jail. The Taliban tells Karzai to let em go and he does. That about it? Now at the same time, instead of being out of that place yesterday, our Administration is busy greasing the palms of Karzai and his henchmen, BEGGING them to let us stay longer. Guys I just do not get this at all. I remember leaving Vietnam when we had to and other places when the job or mission was completed. But I have yet to see a sitting US President be insulted and blackmailed by a thug like Karzai, bend over and take it in the can, just to keep some shit head who hates us happy. Where pray tell is the logic or reason in this? Please anyone, I am open to schooling from those of you who know far more about foreign affairs than I. Why does the President want us there one minute longer? I am shaking my head.

A Proud Infidel

I see Karzai’s action as the equivalent of the Provisional German Government releasing a huge number of confirmed members of the Gestapo, Waffen SS and a number of “Wolfhounds” not long after Germany’s surrender just before the Japanese gave up!!

FUCK YOU to death up the ass sideways with a huge frozen catfish and a bloated pufferfish both at the same time, Karzai!!

I wish I could be surprised by any of this….but I think we all know that Afghanistan will never be a democracy. At least not if our plans for the future are as well executed as the last 12 years have been…when you start out with no plan for post regime toppling occupation it’s not hard to see the waste of time and lives that has gone on for what will turn out to be no long term positive outcome.

Why did we even enter Afghanistan if the plan was to let the Taliban re-occupy the nation 12 years later…does anyone believe this will prove a deterrent to other NGO actors who use violence against the US? The lesson for our enemies is simple, hide among the population because the US won’t kill you there wait out the occupation because the US will leave when it tires of the occupation and then re-take the nation in the absence of US troops to prevent such an occurrence.

Nothing like politicians with zero intestinal fortitude and generals lacking the testicular fortitude to make it clear that military force and occupation without a proper regime change plan is nothing more than an expensive, bloody exercise in futility.

Our enemies will see the Afghanistan Taliban retake that nation and be convinced that America is weak without the strength to fight the warriors of Allah…based on these continuing wars of occupation without actual declarations of war there might be something to that opinion.

@11 VOV Thank you and well said. Much better than I. I always appreciate your intelligent and informed voice of reason and truth.

Dear President Karzai- on behalf of the American people, thank you for your hospitality while we were there – we left an hour ago. However, to help make up for our departure we have left you this rather heavy suitcase. Please excuse the ticking noice and the fogged film. Sincerely, the USA.

Think of all that money he stole going to waste once the Taliban hang him with a piece of commo wire. I hope U-tube allows the video to stay up long enough for me to watch it.

Not one more American life lost or ruined. Get the hell out NOW!
