Philip Allen Keith; unnecessary embellishment
Scotty sends us his work on Philip Allen Keith, who was a real deal Navy pilot with a tour in Vietnam. Who needs to embellish something like that, right? Well, apparently Philip did. He added another tour to Vietnam and three Purple Hearts and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry to an otherwise stellar career. Scotty has the instances of his lies, but here is his FOIA;
Seriously, these bug the shit out of me.
Category: Phony soldiers
and now we see the root origins of Viagra, Grecian Formula, etc.
Sparks: a snow-covered roof don’t mean the fire went out, amigo. In either gender. (smile)
@52 Hondo, well said.
I will try to answer your question about Pilot losing their wings. Breaking safety is the most common way. Seldom that I have of is in voilation of the USMCJ. The Officer can voluntarty turn in their wings quiting flying. I do not know if they can return to flying by asking to fly again and get their wings back. The enlisted man can quit at any time with no stigma attached. Joe
Joe Williams: that was pretty much my understanding, too, amigo – that a pilot could lose wings due to
(1) board action (demonstrated incompetence or safety issues),
(2) UCMJ action, or
(3) voluntary refusal to perform flight duties.
HONDO….. you should be ashamed of yourself…. punk…. May the bird of paradise fly up your ass.
DumBGFukkinGAsshole, don’t you have something to do besides pester the life out of decent people?
Like, maybe go jump out of an airplane or something? Or are you getting so fracking fat that no pilot will take you as a passenger?
Nothing for me to be ashamed of, WitLessOne. Telling a jackass and flaming a-hole that they should go fornicate themselves is nothing to be ashamed of.
Have someone explain what I wrote above to you if I used words that are beyond your comprehension.
Witless, the fraud, stands up for Keith, another fraud.
Turds of a feather do indeed flock together.
These are some pretty serious charges – has anyone contacted Mr. Keith for a comment?
Don’t see much need, Paul. The FOIA reply from NPRC regarding Keith’s official military personnel records on file there make it quite obvious Keith is claiming awards and decorations he does not rate.
In particular, a Navy Cross and promotion to CAPT/O6 would NOT be missing from his records.
Hondo – I just went through all the older comments regarding Mr. Keith and it seems you’ve all covered just about everything. Still, I’m always curious for a reaction or explanation from the accused.
Mr. Keith and I exchanged emails regarding his mention of my brother in his book, Firebase Illingworth. His final email was extensive, but the part I thought I would share was when he wrote:
“Maybe you served in Vietnam, I do not know: you only listed “US Army 1969-1972.” I did serve in Vietnam and I have 3 Purple Hearts in my medal case to prove it and bits of shrapnel still roaming around in my body somewhere and I will die of the Agent Orange crud one of these days, hopefully not too soon. I am not going to engage in a pissing contest with you about this any further.”
Now that I’ve read everyone’s questions and comments on this page, I’m a little (?) upset with Mr. Keith’s embellishments. I want to thank all of you for such detailed questions and explanations, because it has confirmed much of what I had been thinking.
Hondo or anyone ~ I am looking at Keith’s FOIA and do not see anything that designates him as an officer – am I missing something?
Rank/Grade indicates CDR.
Commander (O-5)
Thank you!
Rank/grade = CDR
Ah, yes, thank you…I see it now. Where on the FOIA indicates he was an aviator (sorry, I was army and this is new to me).
From Amazon.com in response to someone posting that readers should check out this web site:
Captain Phil says:
I do not know the identity of “Seaware41,” but I would like to. I have always felt that people should only be allowed to use their true identities in forums such as this. I have reported this comment as “abuse” but until it is taken down or altered, I want to tell anyone who is interested that I stand by my DD-214, my honorable discharge, my Vietnam service and the decorations I have cited, all of which are contained therein. I would also like to add that I am “Service connected-disabled” due to Agent Orange and currently receiving treatment for same from the VA. Kinda hard to fake that.
Yawn.
Ah, yes…thank you! And what Identifies him as an aviator?
I checked the Naval Register (Jan 1970) Philip Allen Keith is listed as a LTJG with a date of rank of 5 Jun 1969 and 1320 designator. The 1320 is a Naval Flight Officer and NOT a pilot (naval aviator) which is a 1310 for regular officers and 1315 for reserve officers. He is shown wearing pilot wings in the photos (poser!) and not NFO wings; a BIG difference. I checked the USS Constellation CVA-64 cruise books (he says he was on the Conny as an Intelligence Officer 163X designator in “Together We Served- Navy”) for 1969-1974 and did not find his picture. On Linked-In here is what he has to say about himself:
“Naval Aviator & Intelligence Officer
United States Navy
June 1964 – September 1988 (24 years 4 months)
Commissioned from Harvard NROTC
Designated Naval Aviator
Collateral Duty Legal Officer
3 tours in Vietnam
14 years with ONI
Bronze Star, Purple Heart, PUC, Air Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, NUC, MUC, Navy Commendation Medal”
I also noticed in the pictures shown here that he is wearing Desert Storm medals, let’s see that was in 1991, I thought he said he got out in 1988?
He’s wearing the Navy Cross, DFC, & Purple Heart Medals on his Facebook page! “Home of the Heroes” does not list him in their Navy Cross database.
He’s A PHONY stealing valor.
It’s interesting that this “F-4” pilot never mentioned his RIO in his write-up. I guess he dodged the other 7 missiles by himself. Maybe he flew this supposed flak mission without a RIO. Given that it is coming out that guy was most-likely a P-3 back-seater, you’d think he would recognize a team effort. Just two months before this purported event happened, the first American ACEs of the Vietnam War were declared. Note the RIO was also considered an ACE as part of the F-4 team. See http://acepilots.com/vietnam/cunningham.html Note also this “pilot” did not mention any wingman. Maybe he didn’t need a wingman either. It’s interesting the two ACEs mentioned above flew off the USS Constellation (Fighter Squadron 96). This will be a subject of interest in future blog entries.
Perhaps this is a “clue” as to why Mr. Keith “left” the Navy Reserve? Broker is booked on grand theft Philip A. Keith accused of UCSD embezzlement Susan Burkhardt Staff Writer PUBLICATION: San Diego Union, The (CA) SECTION: BUSINESS DATE: October 20, 1984 EDITION: 1,2,3,4 Page: D-3 Former La Jolla Securities broker Philip A. Keith yesterday surrendered to the district attorney and was booked into county jail on one count of grand theft. Keith was later released on condition he make all his court appearances in the case. He is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the UC San Diego Foundation, and faces imprisonment of from 16 months to five years if convicted. Arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 5, when Keith will enter his plea. He asked for the delay because he did not have an attorney to represent him in a criminal matter. The district attorney’s office charged that Keith had taken $413,477.06 from the UCSD Foundation last spring and put it in his own brokerage account, TBR & Co., which was jointly owned by himself and his fourth wife, Trudy Buck Rogers. The money was supposed to go to pay for four Treasury notes for the UCSD Foundation and was supposed to be maintained in its account, according to Ray R. Ramseyer, special assistant to the UCSD chancellor and director of the foundation. Keith is alleged to have then purchased three $100,000 Treasury notes, which he continued to maintain in his personal account with La Jolla Securities. According to court documents, Keith admitted using the three T-notes as margin and collateral for trading other stocks, including the highly volatile Disney stock in the midst of a takeover attempt. Court documents also indicate that Keith believed he had discretionary authority to put the foundation’s money in his own account, but Ramseyer denies that is true, and the trade confirmations were never sent to the university, according to the complaint. The remaining money — more than $100,000 — was used as a personal loan, the complaint alleges. Deputy district attorney Robert J. Sullivan said Keith does acknowledge that he used… Read more »
He should not sweat it. He has options to include being All-Points Logistics new finance officer.
Thank you for posting this. What a turd he is!
More fairy tales… This guy is like the Every Ready Bunny he just won’t quit! Unnecessary embellishment is a gross understatement and you need to call him what he is; a POS LIAR. Check out this radio talk show “Military Monday” by John D. Gresham which aired just a couple of months ago in 2015: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/writestream/2015/04/27/military-monday-with-john-d-gresham-and-zenith-press-author-phil-keith# Here is a partial edited transcript (edited by me for added comments): John: Tell us about yourself. You were an F-4 driver? Keith: “Yes I was”. [Then talked about his cousin appearing at college in his dress blues. All the good-looking girls were looking at his cousin, so joined ROTC and got a scholarship. Went to flight school in Pensacola and then onto advanced flight school. Next was carrier qualifications.] [Won’t ever forget his first carrier arrested landing on the USS Lexington.] – BS John: What ship did you fly off: [First 2 cruises after earning his wings – USS Constellation, the “Connie.” Served on the “Connie” in 1970-71 and then end of 1972 early 73. ] BS John: What was your squadron. Keith: “I was in VF-72” John: I was under the impression VF-92 and VF-96 were there at that time.? Keith: I…exactly. I said 72 I meant 92. [Can’t remember his own squadron?] John: You knew Jones, though? Keith: I did, but I also had the privilege of knowing our friend Randy Cunningham – (not that he knew of, but that he knew Cunningham). John: mentioned other names such as Cannon Ball Grenshaw, Matt Connelly and Gus Edwards Keith: Oh yes. John: Remember May 10, 1972? (Keith sounds stumped) – MIG Day! Keith: “I was one of those guys who not only got shot at, but got shot.” Took “very significant” shrapnel from a S.A.M. Was sidelined for 6 months in Honolulu, Tripler Army Medical Center.
