Monday morning feel good stories

| December 16, 2013

Flagwaiver sends us our first feel good story this morning, this one from Washington State where an elderly homeowner was awoken when a feisty young fellow busted through the gate with his car and tried to break into his home.

The 67-year-old homeowner, who has a heart condition, grabbed a gun and went to investigate after calling 911. The intruder confronted the homeowner and began punching him around, said Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.

At that point, the homeowner opened fire, striking and killing the intruder inside the home.

The homeowner sustained minor injuries in the struggle and was taken to a local hospital. He will not be arrested, Troyer said, adding that he does not expect that the prosecutor will file charges against him.

The home’s occupants said they did not know the intruder, who “reeked” of marijuana, Troyer said. He said toxicology tests will show if the suspect had other drugs in his system.

One video after the jump autostarts;

UpNorth sends our other feel good story from North Carolina where two fellows approached the parked car of a Tyson chicken plant employee, Terry Campbell, and started beating his ass;

Detectives said the suspects opened Campbell’s door and began pistol-whipping him, until Campbell was able to grab his own gun and fire at them.

“One suspect was shot multiple times, the other was shot once. Both were transported to Carolinas Medical Center Main,” said city spokesman Pete Hovanec.

Police said Campbell then grabbed the men’s gun from the ground and drove to a nearby gas station to call for help.

There. Doesn’t your coffee taste just a little bit better this morning?

Mr. Campbell (contestant #2) should have been told to ALWAYS lock the doors on the car, day or night, no matter where you are. Other than that, good job on his part.

Are thieves just getting stupider, or am I not understanding them? It’s early yet.

WHo knew Tyson employees had that much money, to make them robbery targets?

UpNorth

@2. Some thieves will steal a dollar bill, rather than earn it.

I’ve never heard of Pot making someone energetic and violent. In fact, quite the opposite. I’m thinking they are going to find something else in his system

Instinct

#4 – wouldn’t be surprised if it was Spice or Lean in his system.

Damn Potheads, are a scourge on my state.

Pinto Nag

Pot’s only as mild as what it’s cut with. Hospitals are getting patients with psychosis related to pot that’s been cut with a variety of toxic/illegal substances. These patients are delusional, combative, and dangerous.
