If you’ve ever watched Band of Brothers, and I’m sure most of you have, you know who “Babe” Heffron is. He passed last night according to the DAV at the tender age of 90.
The former private was with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Heffron was portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He co-wrote @Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends: Two WWII Paratroopers from the Original Band of Brothers Tell Their Story.

May the memory of what he and all of his generation did never be forgotten. He and so many others truly did do their Time in Hell so that millions could be free and grow up enjoying that freedom.
I am sure all his Brothers were waiting for him as he did his final Jump into Heaven. R.I.P. Airborne!!
R.I.P my Brother from an older generation. Sadly we are losing them at an ever increasing pace.
RIP, sir. God speed and thank you.
Rest now in peace, sir.
@2 That’s the truth, a few more years and they will all be gone…growing up in the 60s I remember a lot of these men when they were in their late 30s and early 40s and they were great guys volunteering their time in their communities while working their 4sses off and raising families….
Anyone that saw Band of Brothers will never forget Babe. RIP and Godspeed.
Enjoy Heaven, Sir, you’ve earned it. You and your fellow Warriors have done your time in Hell.
Another Warrior has joined his brethren at the Pearly gates.
Another one leaves for a new duty station. RIP, sir.
Thank you for your service sir. RIP.
Rest In Peace Sir. Thank you for your service from a grateful younger brother and nation!
RIP Babe. Thank you.
Old Soldiers Never Die
Rest now, Brother. See you in a while.
Airborne!
Rest easy, solider.
Earl “One Lung” McClung passed last week as well.
I read his book, read Band of Brothers and watched every interview I could. During the Battle of the Bulge he took communion and felt a peace come over him. It was also portrayed in the Band of Brothers series. He made the comment that if he died it would be in a state of grace. he felt that every day after was a blessing.
He was an ordinary average soldier. Serving with a million others just like him. The only difference I can see between Mr. Heffron and todays ordinary average soldier is the different uniform.
God Speed Mr. Heffron. Our Nation owes you a debt.
