Texas to treat Hasan’s victims as combat veterans
The Austin Statesman reports that the Texas Veterans’ Land Board has decided that they’ll give the same benefits to the victims of the Fort Hood shootings as they would give to any combat-injured veteran;
Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson announced Friday that the Texas Veterans Land Board, which provides loans and retirement home services to veterans and their families, will treat the spouses of those killed in the Nov. 5, 2009, Fort Hood shooting “as if they were killed in combat.”
[…]
“We’re going to change the rules to give these families full access to VLB benefits,” Patterson said in a statement. “We’ll let the lawyers work out the details, but I intend to make sure we honor their sacrifice.”
[…]
“Like Travis and Crockett, their spilled blood remains forever intermingled with Texas soil. Their surviving spouses who are residents of Texas at the time of application should be eligible for VLB programs.”
The federal government should be ashamed of themselves.

the disgusting Obama Regime response to this should (“allahu akhbar …errr…’workplace violence'”) be a forever-mark on his record as well as his sycophants at DOJ and DOD
One scandal after another, and Bodaprez acts like nothing matters outside his golf games and vacations.
And people called Reagan the Teflon president. Not so much, I think. Nothing like this one.
They SHOULD be, but after four years, we know better. Such a concept doesn’t exist within this administration. All for the sake of party politics and power.
Time to start again.
now that this scumbag has been found guilty does he still receive all that money he was getting ?
God Bless Texas
Thank you, Texas, for stepping up in spite of the feds.
We are still waiting for authorization and award of the Purple Heart Medal to the dead and wounded soldier(s) from the Little Rock Recruiting Station shooting. Seems a disgruntled tour bus driver was turning his life around as a terrorist wannabe and shot both as an act of terrorism that has been called everything but by the current administration. I would remind you once again my nomination of Chump In Chief Barak (call me Barry until I decide to be my black-self) Obama for the Stolen Valor Contest was not accepted but you are probaly getting tired of my mentioning it.
@4, the judge will probably impose a fine at least equal to his pay since the shooting. However, the money should go to his victims, not be recouped by the USG.
Good for Texas!
Something told me the State of Texas wouldn’t sit idly by. Now, if the Army kicks Nadalnutsac to them for the murder of the civie & her unborn child…Just never know what’s going to happen. Maybe he’ll catch a ride on the magic needle at Huntsville.
“The federal government should be ashamed of themselves.”
Yup….but they won’t.
There’s no words for this tragedy. I just hope the conviction provides some closure.
It’s frequently nice to see a state government deciding publicly to shame a lazy, worthless federal administration.
I like that. If it weren’t for the weather, I might move down there.
God Bless Texas!
I’m glad the state is taking up the slack for the Idiots at the Federal and DOD level. Texas may become an independent Republic again. Texans don’t suffer Murderers,, or fools very long.
Is it any wonder that there is a legion of citizens who see the government, it’s politicians and bureaucrats as a bunch of self-serving BASTARDS? It is quite plain to see that this event was called “workplace violence” so as not to upset the muslims worldwide. In WW-I, WW-II, we had distinct “front lines”, denoting where the war was being conducted from. Since then the lines have gone from blurred to non-existant. We are in a war, undeniably, against Islamic Terrorism, and there is NO DAMNED LINE. The battlefied is in the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, a field in Pennsylvania, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and yes, Ft. Hood, Texas and a Recruiting center in Arkansas.
Screw the government, and I pray that this move by Texas makes enough noise to really put the feds in their place.
God Bless Texas.
No words I use can adequately convey the utter contempt and hatred I hold for obamao and the regime he controls, so I won’t even try…
How much of the populations of Oregon and Washington state want the idiotic crap that is going on in the coastal areas? Which county in Colorado is ready to secede from Colorado? How many other states have the same thing going on?
Did I mention that Illinois now has a medical marijuana law? I hate that shit more than any of you can realize, because all it does when I smell it is remind me of the worst job I had in Chicago, the excruciatingly long hours, the owners who were either high on pot or cocaine, and the lousy pay I got that was half what other people doing the same work got at other companies. I hate that shit the way you guys hate these mujahedeen. But now, because it’s legal to smoke it, if I run into someone who does so, I don’t have the law behind me if I throw a bucket of water in his face.
BRAVO ZULU, TEXAS!! My Wife and I are happy in our present locale, but if we had to relocate for any reason, my first choice would be Texas!
Yes, thank God for Texas!! The guy making that call is a hero!
[…] This ain’t Hell… reports that Texas will treat Ft. Hood shooting victims as combat veterans […]
Yup, I think I’ll be moving to Texas when I retire…
