Colombian terrorists claim to have captured US troop
The Associated Press reports that the Colombian terrorist group, FARC, claims they have captured a member of the US military;
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia identifies the man as Kevin Scott Sutay. It says that his passport says he was born in New York City and that he identifies himself as a 2010-11 veteran of the Afghan war who was an anti-mining specialist in the U.S. Navy until March of this year.
The rebel group says on its website that Sutay was “captured” in southern Colombia on June 20. It does not give the circumstances.
I found a Specialist Kevin S. Sutay who is assigned to the 541st Engineer Company and according to their Facebook page, they’re deployed to Afghanistan. Of course, the guy who FARC has might not be Army and the name is just a coincidence. But whoever he is, FARC says that they’ll hand him over as a gesture of good faith because they’re in peace talks with the Colombian government.
