Phony SEAL Police chief Kerkorian resigns

| July 2, 2013

Hondo and MCPO Ret. in TN send us a link to the Chicago Tribune which reports that Robert Kerkorian, the phony SEAL, police chief of Waukegan, Illinois has finally reigned;

Mayor Wayne Motley announced at Monday night’s City Council meeting that he asked for and received Robert Kerkorian’s resignation after a series of Tribune reports indicating the chief had made false claims about his military training and service as a Navy SEAL.

Motley praised the longtime police officer, who was appointed chief in May, as an “exceptional public servant” but said questions about Kerkorian’s military career had become a “distraction.”

Yeah, it’s our fault that he had to resigned. We created a “distraction” because Kerkorian told wild-ass tales of his exploits which never happened. We veterans are over stepping our boundaries by being vocal when one of our own goes off the reservation, even though Kerkorian was “one of our own” only for a few months.

Oh, yeah, he’s still on the force, he just took a pay cut;

Kerkorian will return to his former rank of commander, Motley said. Deputy Chief Wayne Walles takes over as interim chief while the city searches for a replacement.

I’m pretty sure that he won’t be allowed to make any arrests, though. A defense attorney would use this incident against any testimony he gives in a court room.

Of course, Kerkorian wasn’t at the announcement, you know because he’s such a brave man.

Thanks for keeping this discussion going. We need your input and help.

Waukegan citizens continue supporting the hard-working and ethical officers on our police force. Some people were misled by articles that stated that Robert Kerkorian had resigned. Period. End of game.

Not so. That wording was a bit of spin on the “real deal”.

The Mayor, following a closed door Executive Session with City Council, announced they were giving Kerkorian back his previous rank in the police force. He is now a Commander in the Waukegan Police force. The Mayor mentioned speaking with his friend Robert Kerkorian saying that he told him that this problem was going to continue to be a distraction. I heard it but don’t have the exact words. I’m waiting for the Council meeting video to be released on YouTube for the full transcript of the Mayor’s announcement.

A detailed story on the July 1 events (including my direct challenge our our elected leaders to demonstrate ethics at as high a standard as the voters who elected them) is at: http://newssun.suntimes.com/news/21098652-418/chiefs-resignation-the-result-of-complete-investigation.html (You might have to register for a free account after the first viewing.)

I have pointed a number of interested citizens to this forum. We would appreciate any ideas or pressure for following ethical standards that you can bring to bear.

Thanks for your help.

I saw mention of a story about this on FOX and one mentioned Mike Tobin and Don Shipley. Now I see something about FOX Washington.

I find NO confirmation or links on the web related to any stories actually on air or videos of reports. I’d like to get that info and share video of any interviews on this with others.

What’s up with FOX Chicago. I’ll ask them via the Contact Tip thing why they are silent on a local story. Two newspapers have been following this and it has been front page TWICE in the Chicago Tribune. Maybe FOX doesn’t think this is a big deal??? That doesn’t ring true.

Are any of you folks in the vicinity of Waukegan? The comments from “Ex-PH2” and “MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)” kinda sound like you’re familiar with things up here. The doors of Waukegan City Hall are less than 5 miles north of the Gate at Naval Station Great Lakes.

It would be wonderful for folks with bonafide active or veteran status show up at the next City Council Meeting in Waukegan IL, July 15 @ 7 PM, City Hall. I believe that “Audience Time” where you get to talk for three minutes to the Mayor and City Council, is restricted to people who reside in the city. But there are lots of active and veteran military here. They need to show up too!

I’d like to make sure people know YOUR comments so I have sent links to TAH and this thread to a community mailing list and to the regional media.

Thanks for any help you can bring.
