Maj. Seivirak Inson sentenced for spying for Cambodians
The Stars & Stripes reports that Maj. Seivirak Inson was sentenced to ten years in the pound for transmitting intelligence and stuff to the Cambodian government;
Capt. Leslie Waddle, a spokeswoman for the Army’s 8th Theater Sustainment Command in Hawaii, said Inson was found guilty of those charges as well as a charge that he had unauthorized possession of a Defense Intelligence Agency intelligence report, and that he failed to report to his chain of command that he had contact with Cambodian military and government officials.
Inson was found guilty of a charge that he cheated on his wife — a criminal offense in the military — but was found not guilty of beating her, Waddle said. He also was found not guilty of the accusation that he compiled information about U.S. service members of Cambodian descent with the intent to transmit that information to the Cambodian military, she said.
Manning, Snowden and now this guy. And apparently there were always some crap in their personnel lives to indicate that they shouldn’t have access to classified information, yet there they are.

Manning and Snowden, what they did was wrong and I hope they are punished, but this guy actively conspired with a foreign power. That’s an entirely different kind of wrong altogether and if he had to rot for life it would be OK with me.
It would save the U.S. a lot of money if we just let ’em all go, and then send Doug Russell, the Fort Dix trained sniper, after these guys.
So, the gummint can inform you they know about your wrong number from 5 years ago to a phone number you called at 9:02am on a Thursday while you were at McDonalds getting breakfast.
But, they can’t identify this kind of thing until its too late. The gummint can’t fix the backlog on VA claims, and they can’t figure out how to make a VA system and a DoD system talk to each other?

So who exactly vets these people for TSC? Just in the 3 or 4 months I’ve been reading stuff here, I’ve now seen 5 people that has clearance that should not. What is the process and is there follow up once someone receives clearance? This is getting a little stupid.

In my day(65 to 69) it was almost impossible to get a TS clearance if you had any relatives in any iron curtain country. If your great uncle had been in the communist party in the 1930’s you were screwed. Now we give clearances to Chinese nationals. Naturalized children of non citizens. and god knows who else. I blame all of these recent spy cases on political correctness. Ten years for spying seems a bit light to me.
An English judge once said ” We don’t hang horse thieves to keep them from stealing other horses. We hang horse thieves to keep others from stealing horses. If death was appropriate for the Rosenbergs it should be good for every other Traitorous bastard that loves another country more than he does ours.
PS Bring back hanging for spies and traitors. It may be cruel, but if we used it more it would not be that unusual.

His uniform is not jacked: the CAB falls in a different category of skill or combat badge, so he is right. I am quite sure that the picture is his command photo from F Co, 229th Military Intelligence Battalion, Defense Language Institute. The patch is the DLI patch and has the Rosetta Stone and a Griffon head on it.
I was in F Co. as a Russian linguist trainee, 18 years ago this fall. Holy crap, I am starting to feel my age.
How could someone with a Taxi Badge dishonor their service?!? That “one time” that mortar round fell near the PX on base must have scarred him for life and turned him into a traitor.

@21 He WAS a Major at PACOM/TSC until his conviction. So I would be more worried about the Soldiers in Hawaii. I am assuming this was just the best photo the Stars and Stripes could grab. I went up the hill AND down the hill. I was on the “extended plan”!

@23 – Read about a case a month or two ago involving a defense contractor in his mid-50s charged with passing classified info to his girlfriend…a 22- or 23-year-old woman from China….who had initiated the relationship with him by approaching him at a defense show….and who SHOCKINGLY turned out to be an MSS agent.

@7 eric, didnt ya see the article the other day, chineese hackers broke into the VA system and eliminated the back log. the VA has furloughed all employees to rebuild the back log so they can justify their jobs
It is sad, but Inson deserves it. Cambodia is very close to China right now and if Cambodia gets sensitive information about the US, it will give it to China. This Inson Guy is very close to a son of Hun Sen, the man that has been in power in Cambodia for over 20 yrs, Hun Manet is his son, Hun Manet used to go to west point and Inson at one point was his instructor. Hun Manet graduated from the west, but went back home to work for the communist.
