Ferris resigns
We first wrote about James Ferris on March 1st when we discovered some medals he was wearing which weren’t in his reocrds. We teamed up with Mark Weiner of the Syracuse Post-Standard when Mark wrote an article about Ferris, from Liverpool, NY, when he went to a ceremony at the White House. Mark was able to send a reporter to ferris house and confront him with his records. Oddly enough, before the reporter went to Ferris’ house, I’d told Mark about how some phonies said they were wearing their fathers’ medals to honor his service. Ferris told the reporter that he was wearing his brother’s medals to honor his service. Funny how the fakers have a discernible pattern. Anyway, Ferris offered to resign as the President of the Korean War Veterans Association and the Board refused to accept his resignation.
Today Mark sends us a link to his latest article on the subject announcing that the membership of the KWVA has sounded off and forced the Board to accept Ferris’ resignation;
Aldridge said the board changed its position after hearing from members of chapters across the nation who said Ferris should no longer represent them.
“We had a lot of requests that Jim step aside,” Aldridge said. “And like the rest of us, he’s not in the best of health. That was one of the motivating reasons.”
Ferris, reached at his home in Clay today, confirmed his resignation and said, “I’m not well anymore. But it’s for personal reasons, mainly.”
When asked to elaborate, Ferris would say only, “The membership will find out when it goes through the proper channels.”
Aldridge said the KWVA’s membership of about 15,000 veterans has not been notified as a group about the change at the top. He said the change will be become official with the completion of a routine audit, done anytime the group has a change in command.
I heard the rumor yesterday and I was in the process of trying to verify it when someone announced it in the comments. Some of our friends in KWVA couldn’t even verify it through their connections – I guess the KWVA is keeping it’s membership in the dark. With what I’ve seen from the leadership at KWVA, I think it needs some serious housecleaning. My uncle, a former VFW post commander and Vietnam veteran had to let the local KWVA post commander about Ferris because the KWVA leadership wasn’t telling anyone. Since this is the 60th anniversary year of the end of outward hostilities in the Korean War, I’d think that KWVA would want someone without this baggage to represent them in public. But that’s just me.

Ah … my father would be pleased!
Nice shooting, Jonn. Along with “good ol’ boy” Ken Aden, that’s a couple you’ve nailed from several hundred miles away. (smile)
I look at that photo and wonder which one of those two has worse breath.
Mr. Ferris will be in denial that he did anything wrong up to the day he dies, but he is, at least, off to the side for the time being.
This same “outfit” initially chose to put their heads in the sand and did nothing.
Bueller…Bueller… Bueller…
My uncle would be pleased, also.
I don’t understand why they didn’t accept the resignation in the first place.
It’s not for me to say if they should or should not have empathy for the man because I don’t know the man, nor do I know if he has done a good job for the organization. Doing a good job doesn’t excuse the dishonesty, the dishonesty tarnishes the good works as is always the case.
When it was clear he had been less than honest a simple route to honesty and change was offered and refused. I’m not certain why that happened nor can I wrap my head around any scenario where that makes sense, except one where the veteran was falsely accused. His admission indicates that is not the case.
It’s clear I shall remain surprised by this entire episode as none of it appears to have been necessary in order that Ferris become president.
GOOD JORB!!!!
THIS is why we’re here.
HEEP (or Keep) ON THE PRESSURE!!!
As I recently learned from some grunt friends….
***NFS*** (No slack)
The fact that the membership had to depend upon outsiders to learn about this matter is disturbing. Evidently, when enough of them did learn of it, hellfire rained down on the apologists. Ferris, having lied, been exposed, and now kicked dead in the ass, I wish a peaceful remainder of his days on earth. When his time comes, and if he makes it to Heaven, he will have a lot of explaining to do to a great many actual Korean War Veterans and Fallen. I wish Ferris had had enough sense to fess up and then walk away. Instead, as I anticipated, he’s leaving for ‘personal’ reasons without apology. Yeah, a size 10 in the butt is real personal.
“I don’t understand why they didn’t accept the resignation in the first place.” Buds. i.e., ‘Hey, tender your resignation and I won’t accept it. You’re covered, pal. In the meantime, we’ll keep quiet about this on our website and meetings.’
A shame.
An old man brought down by perpetuated dishonesty.
A lesson to all.
Fellows,
I think its time now that we all let go of this Jim Ferris matter and move on, we have a few more fish that needs to be fished out. Not many of you are aware that Ferris and myself at one time were real close friends, and to find out that he could have done what he did is something hard to let go of, but I think our KWVA will now be a much better Organization with the leadership we now have in hand, so all that’s asked for now is, lets move on, Ferris is gone, and like that old tune goes, “THANK GOD FOR GRAYHOUND’S HE’s GONE”
Sam (from where the tall corn grows)
A very good idea, Sam. But, I am very glad that this happened.
My father would be pleased.
Should have kicked him out and placed an ad in his home town local paper announcing your organizations actions, why it was done, and to shame that piece of shit.
He got off easy.
As Sam says, “more fish.”
Ferris is not the only one with major issues. The Board knows exactly what facts they have been holding back for a long time. This is just round one.
Sam-
Could those “other fish” be the reason that Ferris’ original resignation was not accepted by the board?
Next!
@16- MCPO Brutal succinct statement and I love it!
i’m not a navy seal, but i wear a navy seal cover.
My Reply To Fringe
No Mr. Fringe, Your asking me something that right now I am unable to answer and give you an honest answer. As for the “other fish” let me just say that it’s more then just the “other fish”, lets say there’s more then one “Fish” there’s a couple more fish that we need to look at, and if Mr. Ferris had any idea as to who they were is another question that I am unable to give you an answer to, but I think Jonn will tell you that we have them in our scope, and sooner or later we are going to bring these guys to light, just give us a little time, things like this just don’t happen over night. I know many of you guys are still uncertain of the role I am playing in bringing these phonys out of the woodwork, but for that you’ll have to consult with Jonn. Now just let me make one thing very clear to everyone, say what you may when I first went to bat for Jim Ferris when his story first came out, it did take me alittle time to see where things stood, and now my only hope is that the KWVA has not been destroyed by what one person did and lets allow the good members to move on, after all, it was those that built this Organization years ago that have passed away that are not here today that we need to respect. We might still be regarded as Veterans of a “Forgotten War” but we’re all still Korean War Veterans, and real proud of what we did. I hope this answers most of your questions.
Sam (Where from where the tall corn grows)
Unfortunately, Ferris is the one on the left.
Guys, I don’t know what I can say to convince everyone that I am not a mindreader, if I could answer your question in wanting to know if Ferris knew about these other “fish” was the reason that the board did not want to except his resignation is something I tryed to explained before to everyone. I am not tryiny to hold back on telling you what you want to know, I just don’t know, its that simple. If any of you feel uncomfortable with me being here on this tread I will stop right here. Up to now I’ve tryed to be as honest as I can, but I can see that this is not working out, so I’ll say no more and let Jonn take it from here. Stay well fellows
Sam (Where the tall corn grow)
Hell no. You stick around, Sam. I enjoy hearing from you every so often. Instead of being hard-headed and sticking up for the guy when presented with evidence, you did the best thing for your organization and helped bring out the truth. That isn’t how it usually goes, if you haven’t gathered.
Their senior legal advisor is the guy to watch next. He is also a DAV legislative lobbyist and spokesman.

This is the next person, or should I say, the next “Fish’ we are going to work on. You don’t have to name names, I know very well who your talking about. He’s been nothing but trouble from day one. Enough said, I don’t want Jonn after me for telling what we have in our “FISH” tank.
Sam (Where the tall corn grows)
Hey Sam, you have no evidence. Have another ear of corn and move on.
/S/ Wearing my seal cover.
Hey Moven Forward,
I think you’d better better off if you moved “BACKWARDS”, who in the hell do you think the person was that sent BIG CHARLIE down the road talking to himself, get a life, or get a change of name, that “Moven Forward” sure don’t tell much of someone that knows nothing of whats going on.
Sam (Where the Tall corn grows)
Hey Sam, how do you sleep at night, you’re right or left side?? You’re ear size will tell us. It’s best to sleep on your right side.
/S/ Still wearing my seal cover.
Hey Jonn,
Maybe we should check this “Moven Forward” joker out to see if that Seals he’s wearing is’nt somekind of a bottom eating snail still in his shell.
Sam
I wouldn’t even worry about him. I imagine he is involved somewhere along the line, but feeding trolls can get time consuming and annoying lol
