Yeah, no, I’m not watching this TV show

It’s like Soup Sandwich and Ken Crocheron are the consultants on this thing;

Thanks (I think) to Andy for the link.

@2: Yeah, it’s like a cross between SGT Bilko and Stripes. But, come on, Stripes is still fricken funny after all these years. But, what made Stripes great is what will kill this series after a few weeks; it’s not original in storyline or characters (the fat guy is Ox) and that’s too bad, because I like Keith David as an actor. I’ll keep an open mind and watch the first episode or two and then I will judge it.

I did like the student driver sign on the back of the Bradley. I can’t remember how many times I wished the Bradley in front of me had one just as a warning.

Old Trooper

@44: They were airing MASH during Vietnam, along with Hogan’s Heroes and several others.

I’d rather watch toadstools grow on cow patties in a pasture!

never been a military-oriented comedy that was respectful of the military…. the closest were probably some of the emotional scenes in M*A*S*H, but otherwise you have the REAL Sgt. Bilko, Gomer Pyle, CPO SHarkey, McHale’s Navy, and others mentioned above. It’s in the nature of humor. Face it… the Duffel Blog ain’t exactly respectful, nor is PowerPoint Ranger (where the hell are new ones, anyway?) – thank God.

Well this looks to be caricature on a grand scale(or what passes as a grand scale in today’s TV markets), but I suspect the jokes won’t withstand the pressure of a weekly effort to be humorous and relevant.

Stripes was funny because it was somewhat relevant to its’ time frame, shortly after Vietnam, no more draft the “ Be All You Can Be recruiting slogans lots of potato boys (Ox) signing up and getting into basic…

The line about the fat guy’s 4ss being like memory foam wasn’t too bad, but I’m not going out of my way to hear these jokes….I watch so little television I am probably a bad test audience in any event. If the show is not relevant for today’s audience it will not linger for long, it’s simple market math. It’s will not be, by no stretch, the worst thing on TV if it airs, and that is perhaps the saddest commentary of all.

Four weeks, tops.

But at least they were all wearing their reflective safety belts!

The Sniper

It’s got potential, well, it had potential but I don’t think it will last more than [insert incredibly short period of time here].

Joe Williams

Gomer Pyle USMC has just became Emmy material . I hated that show.
