Stolen Valor in San Antonio
Our buddy, Jaie Avila at WAOI4 in San Antonio, writes an article today about confronting two of our phonies, Alberto Bustamante and Paul Schroeder.
A former military policeman at Ft. Sam who boasted of receiving the silver star, purple heart and other decorations while serving with special forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Schroeder claimed he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, and became the director of counseling at the PTSD Foundation in Houston.
When Schroeder tried to get Silver Star license plates for his car, however, police discovered his military record had been forged. His real records show Schroeder was never in the Special Forces. In fact, he’d never even been in combat.
Of course, when Jaie tried to ask Schroeder about why he did what he did, Schroeder had no comment. Bustamante, on the other hand was more talkative;
Bustamante admits the ribbons he’s wearing in the pictures aren’t his. He claims he borrowed them from a friend.
“Because of those pictures I caught a bunch of flak from all the guys that actually been there. I respect that they were there you know, I was a veteran too,” Bustamante said.
“I understand how they’re offended and they’re upset you know.”
Bustamante admits he never fought in Vietnam, but he still insists he was awarded a bronze star, for rescuing a fellow marine in the Philippines. He claims they both shipped over on the USS Missouri.
We checked and the Missouri wasn’t being used by the navy at the time. It was actually a floating museum.
“They gave me an award and they said it was a bronze star because I saved his life,” Bustamante said.
Yeah, we looked at the history of the USS Missouri and it had been a museum in Bremerton, Washington from 1955 until 1984, so he must’ve been on one long-ass float.
Lucky for us, the phonies are really stupid and, apparently, they don’t use the internet very well.
Like I said yesterday, Jaie’s story is a two parter, tonight he’ll be tracking down the Weeble, Tina Kersten, the word is that she flees from the camera – watching that lard-ass trying to get out of sight should be worth the watching.

“shipped over on the USS Missouri.”
If he was a Marine in that era, “shipping over” was another term for reenlistment. (It fell out of use after Vietnam.)
That part MIGHT be legit, IF that was what he meant. But a Vietnam era Marine with no Vietnam service, despite reenlistment? Doesn’t pass the smell test.
Jaie did an awesome job. Looking forward to part 2!!
Could not have happened to a more deserving turd nugget. (Bustamante) except maybe Thunder chickenshit….
glad to see news outets taking a interest in these clowns!!!
Well done, Mr. Avilla. Many thanks.
Looking forward to seeing/reading part 2.
Wow.
Two turds with one flush.

Does anyone have a link to the video report available for those that didn’t live in the SA area?

Comrades in Arms: When I read this post, I was reminded of something that happened a couple of years ago. Shortly after arriving in Mississippi, I went to the courthouse in Gulfport to register my 2004 Ford F-150 XLT four wheel drive pickup truck. Knowing that Mississippi offered me the option of getting a special “Bronze Star Medal” license plate, I presented my DD-214, my Bronze Star Medal certificate, and the citation for my Bronze Star Medal. The black female who waited on me said that their office was out of “Bronze Star Medal” license plates, but she could give me a “Silver Star Medal” license plate instead! Naturally, I declined her offer, and had them special order my “Bronze Star Medal” license plate. How do you like them there apples, hey? One of the really neat things about Mississippi is that they only require a license plate to be displayed on the rear of a vehicle. So, for the front of my pickup truck, I mounted a “Confederate Battle Flag” license plate, just like in the movie, “FORREST GUMP”! Here’s the URL for a slide show of photographs of my 2004 Ford F-150 XLT four wheel drive pickup truck with its “Bronze Star Medal” license plate and its “Confederate Battle Flag” license plate. http://www.flickr.com//photos/writesong/sets/72157624135445099/show/ Yesterday, something I thought was really nifty happened. I was driving my pickup truck and, when stopped at an intersection waiting for the light to change, I observed the car in front of me had a “Purple Heart Medal” license plate, and the SUV beside me displayed an “Air Medal” license plate, along with a couple of “United States Marine Corps” decals. I thought that was a bit unusual, with three vehicles together at an intersection, with each of them displaying their medal on their license plate. Also, here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, there is a resident (whom I’m not acquainted with) who drives a gray Mercedes with a “Distinguished Flying Cross Medal” license plate. Ain’t that neat? Finally, TODAY, Tuesday 30 April 2013, is the thirty-eighth anniversary of the fall of Saigon,… Read more »
