More Troops to Jordan

| April 17, 2013

The SECDEF has apparently ordered the deployment of 200 additional US troops to Jordan.  The troops will come from the HQ of the 1st Armored Division, and will apparently be heavy on communications and intelligence support personnel.

The reason given by a Pentagon spokesman for the deployment of additional forces is to (1) assist the Jordanian military, and (2) “be ready for military action” should that be ordered by the POTUS.

I hope this is just the Pentagon erring on the side of caution.  But as I’ve said before about the US and Syria:  “I’ve got a bad feeling about this . . . . ”

I think they have been wanting to go into Syria all along. I too have a bad feeling about this. I hope I am wrong.

“be ready for military action” translates to “so we have a crappy idea of what we wanna break when we go in there and support our dubious friends again…”

Jordan is a mess, politically and economically. And with the large influx of Syrian refugees, matters aren’t looking any brighter. It is increasingly ripe for large-scale civil unrest and no good whatsoever can come from putting more of our people at risk by being there.

Ex-PH2

This is not good.

Before you know it…200 suddenly expands to 200K. Oh wait, thats never happened before…

someone I know is doing this rodeo, should be interesting…

Anytime Reagan, Bush 41 or GW Bush sent troops anywhere, the liberal media went ape. This time, it’s B. Hussein 0bama doing so, and his lackeys in the liberal media will stay silent.

What? US troops are expanding the US empire? Again??

No, it will not end well. Never does.

“I hope this is just the Pentagon erring on the side of caution.”

When the Pentagon errs on the side of caution, the entire 1AD ships out to reinforce the 82d and 101st. The first sign of a caution-error is the multifunctional logistics brigade with a herd of Army Contracting Officers with cash landing in Amman.

This is just pissing on King Abdullah II’s face and calling it friendship.

@9 I have always hated the word “multifunctional” ever since it became a popular buzz word in the mid 80s. Does that mean the other units are non functional, dysfunctional, or what?

#5 Devtun,
I was thinking the same. VietNam, deja vu all over again.

A_Proud_Infidel

I just wonder if those deployed Personnel are going to be hogtied with asinine ROE’s like they were in Somalia?

FFS, heading towards another politically correct “war.”

And here I thought any massive troop movement into an active zone of conflict had to be voted on my Congress. I guess the Enlightened One knows better than Representatives of Americans.
