Sorry to rain (rain!? Hell, piss is more like it) on the upcoming patriotic parade, but I’m seeing a disconnect here.
Between Nanny Statist Cuomo and Nanny Citist Bloomin’idiot, and all the crap they’ve been creating and shoveling out — and then to have a parade and celebration in NY, NY to honor the military that gave us the freedoms that are being eroded (eroded!? Hell, stolen before our eyes in daylight robbery), sorry, that contradiction is just too big, too huge, for me to ignore.
I’m all for honoring the Army (20 year active duty), and the brave men and women who have been injured, permanently hurt, and killed — been there, I wrote that same blank check, just that mine was never cashed — but to do it anywhere on/in the Left Coast, leaves a rank bad taste and smell of hypocritical shit in my mouth and nose.
I’m thinking of Kipling’s “Tommy” as I write this.

Hope all the Army-types and their supporters who care to show up for this shindig be seriously careful and observant while staying in the hotel rooms in NYC. That town is being overrun by bedbugs, and the bedbug situation is apparently getting worse, and not going away any time soon. You’ve been warned 🙂

The site is rather barren. Maybe they would be willing to take event suggestions. I was going to suggest a John Kerry medal toss but then I recalled that he was, despite his two-man jungle patrol (he and the guy with the 8mm camera), in the Navy [cue Village People song here]. Or how about a shooting competition NYC style: nerf guns and 64 oz. cup targets? (Hey, I’m trying.)

B Woodman – you wouldn’t have New Hampshire roots maybe? If so, we may be related by marriage

The military (all branches) are teated like gold in NYC. We have the largest Vet’s Day Parade in the country and there is no city in this great land of ours that welcomes our war fighers better.

NYC in addition, is the home of the nation’s oldest patriotic institutions: the oldest in the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesman of the City of New York established in 1785. Another is the Union League Club of New York where the Black Tie event will be held!

“The military (all branches) are teated like gold in NYC.”

Freudian slip?

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

Did I say that … yes the military (all branches) suck on teats (and they are encouraged to do so) while visiting NYC.

Alot of it goes on during Fleet Week. So bring you teats to NYC and offer them up the military!

What’s it cost to cross the GW or Verrazano nowadays, $20-$25? A cab is $2.50 and .50 each QUARTER MILE! Stuck in traffic? No problemo! That’s .50 per minute while not moving. Taking a cab at night? Surcharge! Then there’s tax–and I’ve only just begun. Wanna go from, say, Times Square to JFK airport? That’s $52 PLUS the meter PLUS the fixed tax. Wanna see a show or sporting event? Fahgettaboutit.

@2/17 Air Cav, the site is indeed sparse. First, just getting started. Two, it’s a lot easier to change things now so that you get the information you want the way you want it (easy to find, etc.), than after it is fully built and fleshed out. As I said before, constructive suggestions not just wanted, but needed.

@10. Gaaaaaaaaaaaad damit. I’m falling a wee bit short on the constructive part of that request. But it’s so damn hard, it being NY and all. Between Cuomo the Gun Grabber and Mayor BigBucks it’s an easy target right now–and a deserving one. I’ll tell you what. I’ll shut up about it. But it won’t be easy.
