Lock n Load Coffee; need a cup?
The big benefit of this job is that people send me free stuff. Laughing Wolf hooked me up with Carl Churchill, who runs the Lock n Load Java business. He sent me some free coffee and a mug, which I got Friday. Of course, since I drink about three pots of coffee a day, I fired up a mess of it. At first, I was disappointed because it smelled like that stuff they sell at Starbucks, but it didn’t taste like Starbucks – it didn’t have that burned taste that trendy yuppies think is so tasty.
But, normally, I order German coffee, Tschibo to be specific, because of all of those years I spent in Germany, so I’m bit fussy about my coffee. But this Lock n Load stuff meets my high standards. By the way, Carl is a veteran, and he hires veterans.
I start blogging at about 5 AM everyday, so coffee is important to me, like I said, this stuff meets my standards. I’ve been drinking it all weekend, and the good flavor doesn’t wear off after a few cups like so many other coffees. If you’re looking for some quality coffee with excellent taste, you should try this Lock n Load Java. They have sample packs of their different flavors, and you can send some to the troops who are deployed, if you feel the need, because, MRE coffee isn’t the quality stuff you might think it is. And you’ll be helping out a veteran entrepreneur.

Had wondered recently why so many cups of coffee were tasting as if the beans had been soaked in used motor oil. Guess that is something else we can blame on the filthy hippy crowd?
I’m a Maxwell House (Master Blend) guy. I drink it by the gallon. BUT, what the heck, this is a Veterans’ product so I’ll give the sampler a try.
Thanks for the tip. I agree about Starbucks and Tschibo, which I buy every time I make the trek to Ft Lewis (seeing as how Oregon has no support whatsoever for retirees).
I’ve always found the darker roasts were the ones that ended up tasting rather “burned”. The lighter roasts (e.g., “breakfast blend”) were typically more my style.
Don’t much care for Starbucks as a company, but I thought their “breakfast blend” was fairly good. Others they sell, not so much.
2/17 Air Cav: might want to give Melita coffee a try. Start out using about 2/3 as much or so in the way of grounds vis-a-vis what you do with Maxwell House, plus a good filter. Melita’s ground pretty fine, so the coffee turns out a bit stronger. For the same reason, you really do need a filter vice a mesh basket to keep grounds out of the coffee.

I did want to make mention of another Veteran owned coffee company…Devil Dog Brew. I can attest that the Snipers Brew is pretty darn tasty and doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste. Just checked the website and discovered that Hank has added some of those ‘flavored’ coffees. Y’all might want to check them out as well. I spent all that time in the Navy, never drank coffee once. Still don’t. Tea, not coffee.
Gave up coffee in August 2001, had a 6 week hangover. But I was down to 2 cups and day and could barely function for the shakes. I definitely feel better just drinking ice water in the mornings.
My daughter worked at Starbucks for a year, lots of free drinks came our way. But I always order Chai. Their brownies are to DIE for!
She actually developed migraines because she drank green tea all day long, too much caffeine.
I’ve shipped coffee to the troops through Boca Java as well as Soldier’s Angels. My daughter got a free bag a week so we collected a bunch and sent them with blankets and candy at Christmas.
I think decaf should be named death before dismount. Also whichever drink has the most calories could be named the tanker.
Do they have different names for different kinds of coffee? If they had one that nobody liked they could call it the MP. Decaf could be called death before dismounnt, and whatever has the most calories in it could be called the tanker.

The Navy has turned me off Maxwell House BIG TIME. Although I knew one sailor who deployed on a vessel that had Sara Lee coffee. His verdict?

I got turned onto German coffee during my stint there, where are you ordering your german coffee from? I brough some back but that quickly went and sometimes at the commissary there is a selection…

Probably never would have picked up the coffee habit, but when in the field during the winter and offered something (luke) warm in a tin canteen cup, the only answer is yes.

RunPatRun; that’s how I grew to love SOS – the only reason I reenlisted. Nothing is better than SOS poured over reconstituted dehydrated eggs in a canteen cup on a cold winter morning.
Cigs, coffee, and telling dirty joks to Catholics nuns … that is what gets me going!
