Time for More Dog Control?
Maybe. It seems like a police K9 in Massachusetts managed to fire a pistol into an occupied dwelling.
Police in Lawrence, MA, were investigating 3 shots fired. They spied a vehicle containing suspects.
The suspect vehicle led police on a high-speed chase. When it stopped, one of the vehicle’s occupants got out and buried something in a snowbank.
The police detained the 3 occupants of the vehicle. The police soon afterwards released a K9, who located the buried object – which turned out to be a firearm. In doing so, however, the K9 managed to discharge the weapon into an occupied dwelling. Thankfully there were no injuries.
The 3 occupants of the vehicle are now facing various charges. No word on whether the K9 was placed on administrative leave pending investigation of a negligent discharge. (smile)
No, I’m not joking – well, except for the “administrative leave pending investigation . . . ” part.
At least, I think that was a joke. With some big-city police departments, you never know. (smile)
Category: Guns, Pointless blather, Who knows
Great, even the police dogs are having ND’s. Saw this on the news last night. Gee, why am I not surprised this happened in Lawrence?
That gun must have been seriously damaged for the dog to shoot it. Either that, or the canine revolution is ahead of schedule.
I, for one, would like to welcome our new Canine Masters.
So is anyone else thinking “Canine fired three times” translated means, “Some Numbnuts violated safety and blamed it on the dog like it was gas?” Or is there a video that I can’t see?
If the dog did actually fire the gun, send him to Cali or New York, they can use a new instructor. He actually hit something.
Soooo, I guess that now Police K9’s are the only ones professional enough to handle firearms?
@4 – the suspects fired 3 shots then dropped the gun into a snowbank while they were fleeing. Then the cops had the dog dig it out. while digging, the dog caught his paw in the trigger and it went off.
Apparently, he was digging “enthusiastically”.
Was that a military working dog? Aren’t they supposed to be qualified to handle weapons?
That makes almost as much sense as this article:
