Marine’s home vandalized in IL

| December 26, 2012

Biermann sends us a link about Lance Cpl. Chris Van Etten who lost both his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan last summer. He returned home this weekend from the hospital for a few days before he returned to the hospital for treatment, but someone decided that a restful stay in his hometown was more than he deserved;

What was supposed to be and has been a very happy homecoming took quite a turn Christmas Eve morning when a neighbor knocked on the door to tell the Van Ettens about the derogatory words written on the side of their house as well as the raw eggs splattered on it in several locations.

While police were called in and a report was filed, Chris said the biggest help came from the community, which helped them cover up that ugly, hateful message within an hour.

Here’s a raw video of the aftermath;

Does that graffiti use the “N” word? I don’t get it, what was the point of the graffiti and the egging?

Chip@NASA

Um,
He’s white?
Maybe because of PTSD, he nags folks a lot.

Why not just show the words so we can understand just what was written.

OWB

Trying to make sense of such leads only to frustration on our part. Vandalism just doesn’t make sense.

Meanwhile, good on the community for showing the proper support for this young wounded warrior. Thank you.

apachetears, they can’t show the offending word because I assume it uses the “N” word (can’t say for sure because the media is not saying exactly, that it is ‘derogatory’ whatever that means).

In our world, there is nothing more offensive than the “N” word. It cannot be spoken of without being bleeped on t.v., or covered up.

This is a sick act by a bunch of kids who need the undivided attention of a very angry drill sergeant.

Send them to my house. I have plenty of punishment for them in the form of chores.

Jabatam

Why do some people even breed?

Instinct

#7 – because remembering to use birth control requires too much responsibility for them

Ex-PH2

@7 – Because they need a hobby?

DLM

@7 because it means more welfare money.

I know Chris, and his family, and the pain they have been through. Our running club which they are all a part of has rallied apound the Van Ettens, een the local pizza place held a fundraiser for Chris’s parents to help offset the finances of visiting ans staying with Chris. A local 1/2 Marathon was held for Wounded Warriors and Chris.

HOW THESE DUMBA$$’s can do this type of stuff to him really p!$$es me off and if I find out who did it I can assure I will make the local news too…

@7 becuase they are to f’n stupi to know better.
