Belgian teen honored to wear US uniform
Tequila Volare sends a link from CBSAtlanta about Antoine Brisbois, a 16-year-old Belgian and cancer victim who made a request of the Make-A-Wish Fondation that he be allowed to become a US soldier, like the folks his grandfather told him about when they liberated his country from the Nazis. So they sent him to Fort Knox, KY;
Antoine’s wish is now a cherished memory, thanks to the soldiers at Fort Knox and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
“I’m extremely happy,” Antoine said. “It’s a beautiful uniform. It’s an extreme honor to wear the American uniform.”
Sorry, for some reason the video stopped working, so go to the link at the top of the post and watch the video.

Very cool Make a Wish Foundation & US Army, FT. Knox!
Great story. Great kid.
great story
Wow.
To see a foreign generation recognize and be thankfully for the sacrifices of others long ago in today’s climate, then to use the opportunity to show their appreciation takes me back.
This is the type of stuff that should be widely covered but I’ve heard about it on here.
Oh shit. Tear Zone.
Great story ! Fine Young man, and he likes to hang with winners ! God Bless Him.
When you have a quiet few minutes, take a look at this, the HENRI-CHAPELLE AMERICAN CEMETERY AND MEMORIAL in Belgium and, especially, the short film available at the site.

Wow, when I got to the reporter’s last bit of news I lost it. Awesome story.
FC @4, you’d be surprised at the number of locals over there who still remember. I’ve encountered a fair number of stories over the years, including folks from Belgium, the Netherlands, and France (I know, right).
The common thread seems to be that they’re all living in the European equivalent of “fly-over country.” I expect most Europeans aren’t that familiar with Texas, Tennessee, or even Ohio, either.
Now if we could just get a few more Americans to feel that way.
“It’s a beautiful uniform. It’s an extreme honor to wear the American uniform.” -Amen Brother!
Dust in the eyes again!
A young man from a whole different continent wnated to know and then realized how great it is to be in the finest Fighting Force in the World. Something only the real 1% actually get. He should be sent out to our high schools and colleges to speak to them.
I only got to wear the uniform for 3 months – 17 years ago… and it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I understand completely what this young man is saying… And I agree with 10 – what happened to our country where young men don’t already think this way!
Thanks for posting that.
Hope is not lost. This is a GREAT story.
