The economic Obama

| September 18, 2008

I’m getting confused signals from the Obama campaign. Maybe ya’all can help me out. Don Surber reports that Joe Biden is telling people that paying taxes is patriotic, but I got an email from Barack (my BFF, by the way) telling me he’s going to cut my taxes;

I’m calling for a $1,000 tax break for middle-class families — not just because they need help dealing with the rising costs of gas, food, and health care, but also because our economy needs to be reinvigorated from the bottom up, not the top down.

I’m proposing a second stimulus package to save over one million jobs and provide immediate relief to struggling families.

Now, I’ll grant that the $1000 tax break in real dollars in the 10% tax bracket is only an extra $100/year in our pockets, but it’s a tax cut nonetheless. If it’s patriotic, why is he trying to make us less patriotic?

How’s this secret stimulus package going to save a million jobs? If there was such a magic bullet, wouldn’t President Bush try to use it to win the election for John McCain?

He also throws in this nugget;

More of the same failed ideas are not going to solve our economic problems.

He was saying the same thing last year when the economy was growing at nearly 5% and unemployment was at all-time lows, so what makes him think we’re going to take his word for it now?

Since no one is paying attention to him now, he tries to send in the clowns, according to Gateway Pundit;

In Elko, Obama tried to anticipate his critics and called on the crowd of about 1,500 to sharpen their elbows, too.

“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.

That’s all we need is a bunch of shrill numbskulls getting in our collective face…a bunch of Joe Bidens with their own hair.

Don Surber quotes some more;

“And if they tell you that, ‘Well, we’re not sure where he stands on guns.’ I want you to say, ‘He believes in the Second Amendment.’ If they tell you, ‘Well, he’s going to raise your taxes,’ you say, ‘No, he’s not, he’s going lower them.’ You are my ambassadors. You guys are the ones who can make the case.”

Suber says Obama wants them to lie for him…but it’s much worse than that. In the sage words of George Costanza “It’s not a lie if you believe it.”
