Terror in France

| October 8, 2012

While France is making plans to withdraw from the war against terror in Afghanistan this year, they’re dealing with homegrown terrorists, says the Associated Press;

In all cases, police suspect Muslim extremists. The Toulouse attacker was a Frenchman trained by Islamist paramilitaries. And anti-terrorist police killed one man and arrested 11 in raids this weekend against an Islamist cell suspected in the Sarcelles attacks.

French Jews believe the danger comes from radical messages that appeal to young Muslims in France who are unemployed, angry, alienated and looking for someone to blame.

But France has struggled to address the problem head-on because of the social sensitivities. President Francois Hollande met Sunday with the head of an umbrella group of Muslim organizations, assuring him that the government would not stigmatize all Muslims for anti-Semitic acts committed by a radical fringe.

I guess that’s the way you fight terrorism in Europe. Instead of pleading with the Islamic community to help the police root out the “radical fringe”, you placate them and soothe their ruffled sensibilities. Apparently, Muslim youths in france have made Mohamed Merah, the Toulouse shooter who was killed by French police last Spring after he murdered some French soldiers, a bit of a hero and seek to emulate him;

[French President] Hollande said the jihadist network broken up over the weekend was ready to strike again in coming weeks. The man killed in the raids had been under surveillance since last spring, officials said – around the same time as the Toulouse killings.

I care about the French. I respect the French greatly. The only folks that I may respect more are the French Canadians. The French are…Enough! I can’t take my lies any longer! I can’t live with them another moment. I hate the French! I don’t even like French bread or French dressing. Screw the French. Ahhh. All better now. Good night.

Not a big fan of the French. But if they are killing and capturing terrorists … well maybe … I will like them a bit more. Good on our French allies for that atleast! They do have very capable counter-terrorisn law enforcement, military, and special forces. We have trained them all!

@ Air Cav … minus the killing and capturing of terrorists … I am in your boat!

Oh, give the frogs a break, AirCav. They appreciate what we did for them in WWII. They have long noses and longer memories. Have you never have crepes with beef and mushrooms? To die for!!!

The tender sensibilities of those whose brethren commit terror should be considered last in a long line of other concerns. Muslims should expect to be ostracized and viewed with suspicion when they do little to assist in capturing those amongst them who plot to kill the police and their innocent neighbors.

If your religion fosters murder, child molestation, cultish adherence to isolationist behavior expect others to view you with some disdain and concern. You may have the right to worship whatever little man in the sky you like, but we have the right to be suspicious of you for that belief based on the actions of those you associate with who share your belief, if you don’t like it, tough sh1t.

Do you know why the French hate plastic?

Because you can make Soldiers out of plastic!

“President Francois Hollande met Sunday with the head of an umbrella group of Muslim organizations, assuring him that the government would not stigmatize all Muslims for anti-Semitic acts committed by a radical fringe”. If I were a Jew living in France, I think I’d be shopping for a new home of record. Nothing good can come out of a meeting like that.

Given the shooting wars/conflicts/organized terrorism over the last 30 years, one can make a good case that Hutchinson got it more or less right 19 years ago.

An excellent book, and one I probably should re-read again soon.

Except for the religious aspect, it sounds like the Brown Shirts of the 1930’s all over again.

WWIII, anybody?
