Another gun grabbing bill in the Senate

| July 31, 2012

I guess the gun grabbers are realizing that they can’t get our guns so they’re trying different approaches to disarming Americans – like the large capacity magazine ban and now, in a link sent to us by Old Trooper, they’re coming for our ammunition;

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that President Obama will “evaluate” a new bill that would ban online ammunition sales in the wake of the shooting massacre in Aurora, Colo. That left 12 dead and dozens more injured.

At first Mr. Earnest said he didn’t know if Mr. Obama was aware of a bill sponsored by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Democrat from New Jersey, and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a Democrat from New York. He later amended this remarks to say the White House would evaluate the measure.

Yeah, banning online sales of ammo will sure help the economy, won’t it? And oh, yeah thousands of people bought ammunition on line the same day that James Holmes bought his and those thousands of purchasers didn’t shoot anyone – but they’re the ones who are being punished.

So I guess we all need to stock up.

They’ll ban the ammunition sales, but what about the sales of all the chemicals and components he used to booby trap his apartment?

Oh, yeah…because that didn’t go off and level the building, it isn’t important. I forgot. Sorry.

“Evaluate”=”working under the radar”. I hope this idiocy doesn’t get out of committee.

BohicaTwentyTwo

why do the people who want “common sense gun control laws” have absolutely no gun common sense.

Kilo

It’s much easier to let the Government try to solve the problem instead of just raising your kids to not be crazy I suppose.

Ex-PH2

Those boobytrap components included gasoline. Are they going to ban the sale of gasoline, too?

Kilo

Haha good point. His IEDs were not that sophisticated from my reading. I couldn’t find any accurate descriptions of the initiation system though.

Someone ought to point out that it’s illegal for Congress Critters to sell their offices and votes, but those laws have had no effect on the practice, apparently.

So… let’s ban Congress?

After all, if the opposite of pro is con, then the opposite of progress must be…….

PintoNag

Nice point, AW1 Tim. Very nice.

Hondo

Well, I dunno about that PintoNag. I wanna hear the alternative first before we ban Congress. Something about being sure we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater sticks in my mind.

Democracy sometimes stinks. At least, until you compare it with the alternatives.

AW1 Tim

Hondo: I agree. Just trying to point out the obvious track record with bans and efficacy.

PintoNag

I understood Tim to mean we “ban” the current deadbeats in Congress, and free up the folks who actually want to work for this country. And you are correct, Hondo; the “alternative” to a congress you mentioned would be worse.

Stopping criminal gun violence with gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder to buy a car.

I was trying to come up with a more eloquent way to put it, but this is just dumb shit. That is all. What the fuck do online ammo sales have to do with crime? Those who know me know I am ex-law enforcement. Most real shootings occur spur-of-the-moment. I guy comes home and finds his wife with another man and grabs the shotgun. Or a guy gets a notice that his home is being foreclosed and grabs a revolver.

He doesn’t order ammo online, wait a week+ for delivery, give them his Amex number, and sit around waiting for shit to show up. That’s just fucking stupid. Next they will ban online porn sales to prevent wrist and lower forearm injury.

What just totally…guys, help me with a word here, “astounds” me is that the libtards think by passing more laws that will keep the bad guys from acquiring more weapons or ammo. Hell, coming from the hood, I can get ahold of most any kind of weapon you might want with the appropriate ammo! Some of my “homies” are convicted felons who have more weapons than I do!? Do you think they give a tinker’s damn about laws?

UpNorth

Yat, that can’t be, it’s against the law for a felon to possess a firearm. That’s why a new law on guns or ammo will definitely work, every one will rush to obey the new law.
The easiest way around any future ban like the one contemplated would be for the online places to sell a holster, or shooting bag, with free ammo thrown in, cost depending on what kind of holster one wanted.

Yat Yas 1833

UpNorth, you, and the other guys, are why I keep coming here. Stupid me thought everyone obeyed the laws on the books already. I didn’t know that if the libtards passed another law, everyone would suddenly obey it. I just always figured everyone went to legitimate dealers to buy their weapons and ammo like I, and my brothers, did. Thanks for setting me straight!?
