| July 25, 2012

And now we have half of the (now called) Sour Sixteen:

*(16) Fatty McQuatermillion Pounder def. Martel 61/39
*(12) John def. Groves 65/35
(3) Tillson def. Blumenthal 58/42
*(15) Oliver def. Holland 61/39

*Upsets abound.
We still need an actual name for the Fat Marine.

“Fat Marine” sounds good to me. Perhaps Gordo?

The Sniper

“El Heavy” might work.

CWO5 USMC

I love this touney!!! Fatty McQuatermillion Pounder, a 16th seed, is still in the running. Go Fatty Go!!!

ROS

Maybe he has no name, like Clint Eastwood.

And that Bert and Ernie picture is the best e-VER.

Green Thumb

Albert “Sensei” John and is hanging strong. Never mess with Ninjas carrying Uzis…

Trent

Well that blew holes in my Ginsburg bracket. I still think it will be Fatty and Paul. I just don’t think John and Oliver can go the distance against them.

Old Trooper

I’m bummed that Cornfield Commando John beat 57 medals and counting Groves, and by a wide margin!

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Tillson’s photo with the hooters makes him a favorite as so many of us are easily distracted by nice pendulous breasts….

Agreed. I mean I know America’s supposed to be the land of opportunity and all, but we can’t have these posers thinking they’ll win the Golden ‘Duster if they can’t be bothered to name themselves. Or at least show up in comments pretending to be their own lawyers or something. Standards, gentlemen, standards.

Hoping Fatty wins it all and someone identifies his sorry arse so we can all congratulate him as he takes his walk of shame. smh

NS Webster

I voted for Fatty, but I think that without a real name he’s gone far enough. The final “honor” should go to someone who will appreciate the lifetime of Google hits on their name that will follow.

On the note of the opposite of stolen valor, this is a story I wrote for the NY Times (!) At War blog about a real veteran and real Purple Heart recipient. I think he’s a lot more representative of recent vets, and their successful stories that don’t get media coverage.

El Marco

No upset on Fatty Marine, the pogue is a pig. But then, he needed the extra girth to mount all those ribbons and multi-service qualification badges.

Love these elections……most fun I’m having this week.

Scubasteve

Oliver didn’t even try and he whooped Holland good. I didn’t think he’d be able to hang in there. You think, maybe, he really was Delta? I mean look at that ass kicking he gave Holland.
