Soldier impersonating billionaire is not free speech, apparently
I’d never heard this before, but I guess Brandon Lee Price was AWOL from Fort Polk, LA (if ever there was a place where an AWOL should be excused, it’s Fort Polk) when he impersonated billionaire Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen with a debit card. According to Pittsburgh Live;
The FBI affidavit accompanying his arrest said Brandon Lee Price, 28, was absent without leave from Fort Polk, La., in January when he persuaded a Citibank customer service representative to change the mailing address for an unspecified Allen account from Seattle to Price’s Station Street address and, three days later, persuaded another representative to send him a new debit card.
Price was arrested March 6 and posted a $10,000 unsecured bond, but U.S. Magistrate Judge Cynthia Reed Eddy ordered federal marshals to hold him until Monday to give the Army time to decide whether to charge him with desertion. The U.S. Marshals Service didn’t return a call seeking comment, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed Price was turned over to the Army last week.
And, being a typical private, he used his phony bank card at Gamestop and the Dollar Store. The Dollar Store? Really?
I guess civilians get more upset when we impersonate them than they do when they impersonate us.

If DoD wanted to give the Army an enema, they’d stick it in Fort Polk. I survived three years there, with 5th Mech. I swore I would resign before I went back. The corruption, compounded by the location and the locals, made it horrendous. I thank God my kids never had to attend school there because they were too young then.
Yeah, I spent 16 weeks at Polk for Basic and AIT. They may have made base facilities marginally better, but they can’t change the weather, the terrain and Leesville.
I went to grunt skook at Ft Puke many years ago…then had to go back for pre training for Bosnia. Like Ft Puke is just like fu–ing Bosnia! (then we went to Ft Lewis for Iraq training because it was just like Iraq)
Why does the Army have post in some of the worst places in the US? Then the nice forts, like Prisido of SF gets closed and turned into a friggen park.
By the way, this guy should have set his sights a little higher.

My boss took his basic here too. He went to tigerland. 162nd now has a tigerland sign up and my boss laughs about it. I PCS’d from Germany in late 85. Came here and was in Devil Troop BDE. 588th Eng. Open bay barracks, no A/C. North Fort was the armpit of Polk at that time. We didn’t spend much time in them anyways. Things have changed quite a bit from when I first got here a long time ago. Except for the summer heat. I have to admit though..I hated it as a soldier but, as a civilian I love it. Got out in 90 and went into reserve miltech program. I work at an ECS on base.

I have been too Fort Polk twice for JRTC documenting it. Its not that bad since I am only there for a week or two at a time lol. I might have to take you up on your offer Crusty since I will be there shortly!

My unit trained up for Sadr City Baghdad by going to Ft. Dix, NJ… The forest is a close simulation of an urban area right? Who the fuck thinks of these training sites anyways?
Spent a month at Polk as heavy element for 101st. Training was awesome. Location blew goat’s nuts.
i was opfor there from 03-06, (04 in iraq) and i loved it. job was a blast, area is awesome, weather is perfect, locals are polite and respectful. i dont know why anyone wouldnt want to be there. of course, i was raised in Lake Charles an hour south of there, so to me it was home
This guy was in 4th BDE, 10th Mountain with me at Polk. He was a real piece of shit before he went AWOL too. I saw a lot of 4833’s and 5248’s slide across my desk (S2) with his name on them.
