Media hoping to start another round of bloody protests in Afghanistan
Well, that’s what it looks like when you look at Reuters’ headline;
Alertnet (a subsidiary of Reuters under the URL trust.org) smears the entire “Western Forces” with the deed;
Alertnet has already removed the article, but not before I could get a screenshot. I guess the news has been slow in the days since the last protest, so the media is going to fan flames like they did with the urination video.

Would the term “boondoggle” or “clusterfuck” be more apropos?
I think they’re trying to walk the line between NATO’s contention that one soldier was involved and has been detained, and the assertion of Afghan witnesses that it was a group of drunken soldiers.
Now these would be real hit pieces if they took the witness statements and ran with them: “Witnesses say that they saw a group of American soldiers, Bud Light tallboy cans in one hand, rifle in the other, mowing down innocent suckling babies while chanting “‘Merica, f*ck yeah!”
Or you can change that last quote to, “Yes they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in hell!” Either one works.
I just surfed some of the articles on the net. I came across Michael Yon’s Facebook page. This useless SOB is connecting this event with the Army’s failure to prosecute C.J. Grisham. He has several entries that are absolutely infuriating.
Yeah, Michael. Everything comes back to you. It’s all about you.
“According to Afghan officials” is about where I stopped believing this story.
And again, the newsies declare allegience openly.
Double standards are what we live with and know all about; especially when it deals with the U.S. military.
The media uses spree when a gunman opens fire in the US as well. If they know for a fact that at least one Soldier was involved, it’s no journalistic stretch to state ‘one or more’.
Seems he was a JBLM soldier. Get ready for the flood of news stories featuring the local communist/socialist activists from places like Coffee Strong and the Seattle IVAW.
So this soldier went on a shooting spree, yet Bradley Manning only “allegedly” leaked documents and ANA only “allegedly” shot six American soldiers? No kidding about double standards, they are so quick to crucify and deny due process for some, while solidly ensuring it for others.
I’ve often wondered why Yawn hasn’t been hit with something like a felony stalking of active duty military member beef? That sonofabitch is pure phacking nuts….
Unfortunately, he has a few friends in high places whom most people would regard with more than a fair amount of respect. I won’t name names, Street, but he does have several strings that need cutting.
ROS, would you mind dropping me a line at wolf1 laughingwolf net?
This is a tragedy on many levels, and do expect to see the media make the most of it, as if it can be fanned up (and it will be by them, by the Taliban, and by alleged friends), that sells.
It really burns me to read news that quotes Karzai as saying this act was ‘unforgivable’, but nobody seems to care about Afghans that throw acid on little girls, strap bombs to kids, or shoot their allies in the back (literally). And I have a hard time swallowing the excuse that we need to be more appreciative of their sensibilities and not do things like burn the Koran. So it doesn’t offend the president of Aghanistan when his people throw acid on little girls or blow up schools, but one lone atrocity by an American is ‘unforgivable’?
Do you remember the days when we were the good guys? Those were great weren’t they?
[…] at the language used in these articles and note specificly the second headline. We know it was one lone Soldier on his own but the media […]
