Judge in hiding for ruling against Zombie Muhammed

| February 29, 2012

The DC Caller reports that Judge Mark Martin has sequestered himself and his staff because of death threats he and his office have received from people who are less than pleased with his interpretation of his duties as a judge.

Mechanicsburg District Judge Mark Martin and his staff moved to the more secure Cumberland County Courthouse in Carlisle, Pa. Tuesday. Martin will not elaborate on how long he and his staff will remain there for security reasons, according to The Patriot-News.

Apparently, Ernest Perce, otherwise known as “Zombie Muhammed” told the DC that he, too is the victim of death threats as well;

In a recent interview with The Daily Caller, Perce said he had received over 470 threats since Elbayomy’s acquittal.

“People have said that they would kill me, rip my eyes out, run me over, shoot me and then laugh at me, since I have blasphemed Muhammad,” he said. “They say I will be found out and hung in front of my family.”

I guess the big difference is that the judge is probably protected by better men than him in the uniform of the County Sheriff, whereas Perce must depend on his own resources. Good thing PA is a “shall issue” state. Perce is probably being threatened by Amish intent on drive-bys in their horse-drawn carriages that they’re so well-known for perpetrating.

In my personal experience, though, death threats are harmless. Usually made by cowards who have no intention of following through. No matter how much I try to entice them into action.

Do I see another religious “victim” being created here?

Can’t say I have much sympathy for either of these “fine gentlemen”. Though legal, IMO it’s bad taste in the extreme to lampoon publicly a prominent religion’s central beliefs for laughs – and is stupid as hell to boot. In the judge’s case, I have no use for public servants who refuse to do their duty. That’s precisely what the judge did here – he absolutely refused to do his job and rule in accordance with the law in a criminal trial.

I wonder if this might be actionable by the Pennsylvania Bar as misconduct on the part of a practicing lawyer? Seems to me I remember that members of the bar are also bound to uphold the law in court – but I’m not a lawyer. TSO, Susan, Albrecht, JAGC – your “take”?

Nice to see that the dipshits on both ends of the spectrum are coming out of the woodwork today. Jesus.

Hondo summed up pretty well what I had to say on the matter.

I read a report on CNN the other day where this guy attempted to defend his ruling. He basically said that the reason he dismissed the charges is that there was not enough evidence presented against the defendant. And then he said he couldn’t possibly be a muslim sympathizer because he is, in fact, a lutheran and an army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.

It seems to me that a judge dismissing a case for lack of evidence would simply say so, and then move to the next case on his docket. He wouldn’t sit there for several minutes and lecture people about why their First Amendment rights don’t matter because they offended someone. But hey, I’m not a judge.

I think Hondo is just a bit off, though I do agree with much of what he said. I do recall that the Pope was also a Zombie in the atheist parade, but the “gentleman” was not attacked by angry Catholics. The Judge should have not taken the case as he is a Muhammad worshiper too and stated that lampooning Muhammad was against Sharia law ( we need a link to the earlier post), which really should have no place in our court rooms. I agree the judge didn’t do his job as a criminal judge, but I think as a muslim he did his duty to Allah as he saw it. They’re just getting a little more bold here in bringing Sharia to our country.

Perce and the other atheists did what I can’t afford to do: they made a distinct point. One of the “zombies” was the Pope. One was Muhammad. Who got attacked? And why? Who got defended? And why? Who’s getting death threats? And why? Who’s getting protected? And why?

It has to happen, it’s going to happen, and it will happen.

@5… I believe the reason there was a lack of evidence is because the judge supressed a cell video of the attack because the video itself was insulting to Islam because the Zombie Mohammed image would be reflected into the record.

@2… The state bar has codes of conduct for judges to follow. I personally think this judge was right on the line, and an argument could be made that he crossed it with his ridulous ruling and antics in the courtroom. But I doubt the bar will severely sanction him other than a statement reminding him that he is a judge and not an advocate. We have “activist” judges and we also have judges from all levels that make horrible rulings (see, e.g. 9th Cir.) Hopefully, this is an elected position and the voters can be the final arbitors.

“And then he said he couldn’t possibly be a muslim sympathizer because he is, in fact, a lutheran and an army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Um, no, the judge said in court that he was a muslim, while he was berating the victim. So, either the judge is confused about his religious convictions, or he’s a liar.

You don’t have to be a lawyer to hold the elected seat of a District Justice in Pennsylvania.

John,

“In my personal experience, though, death threats are harmless. Usually made by cowards who have no intention of following through. No matter how much I try to entice them into action.”

Dude. Classic

Graybeard

Some years ago a yellow-bellied jelly-fish called the house to issue a death-threat to me. My wife answered. He made his threat, and she just said:

“I see. Is there anything else you’d like me to tell him?”

Calm as could be.

Flustered the fire out of him. When he realized that he wasn’t even scaring my wife, he must have thought that maybe this wasn’t the best idea if he wanted to live a long time.

Some woman I got.

John,

Suit yourself. I think the guy parading around dressed up like a Zombie Pope is just as big an idiot as either Zombie Mohammed or the judge, and just offensive. He just didn’t happen to strike a nerve. But that’s just my opinion.

I wouldn’t recommend that Zombie Pope do that in certain heavily Catholic neighborhoods without police protection, though.

And JAGC is right: the judge was Muslim. He dismissed the charges based on Sharia and insult to the Prophet, not based on US or Pennsylvania law.

Jonn:

I agree with gschmitt. Classic.

Looks like the judge is facing what happens when you offend someone’s culture.

I guess a person has it coming when they expresses an opinion that offends someone and they get assaulted over it, but totally different when people want a piece of him for expressing an opinion that offends others.

You can’t make this stuff up!

OWB

Coming from the simple-minded perspective here:

It really doesn’t matter what either a victim or an attacker is wearing, their religious persuasion (or lack thereof), orientation, or even the phase of the moon.

Did a criminal act occur? In this case yes – an assault of some sort. Is there evidence? Listen to the witnesses, look at the tape, convict the guy of assault and move on to the next case.

Giving a guy a pass for committing assault because he is a member of that great “religion of peace” (or any other excuse) is ridiculous.

So, can all the rest of us now get a pass for beating up folks who offend us? No? Then why did this clown?

Joshua

Who else here thinks this judge needs to find another job if he cannot uphold the Constitution?

*raises hand…both hands*

UpNorth

ME!!! ME!!!! *Waving both hands*
The “judge” stepped on his appendage when he either slipped and mis-spoke about being a Muslim, or admitted he was a Muslim. Or, maybe he just plays one in court?

Hal05154

I am grateful this idiot judge added ammunition to the grown fire of anti-sharia laws out there. No more “sharia law isn’t being practiced out there” idiocy but Libitard judges.

@9 Old Trooper

I don’t have the original CNN link, but the CNN article has been reproduced by a number of outlets. Those reproductions seem to be crowding out the original story. Here is one: http://www.onislam.net/english/news/americas/456025-us-judge-defends-zombie-prophet-verdict.html

Here is another report from the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/on-faith/pa-judges-dismissal-of-harassment-case-criticized-after-zombie-muhammad-posts-trial-audio/2012/02/28/gIQA5kUggR_story.html

“‘In actuality, I’m a Christian,’ Martin, a Lutheran, told The Associated Press. ‘Does that mean I should recuse myself in all cases that involve Christians?'”

Basically, the judge told CNN and the AP in a follow-ups that he’s a lutheran. Whether he’s confused or lying, I don’t know. I’m just commenting on what I’ve read. And what I get from his comments is that he’s trying to walk back the lecture he delivered in court.

I’m not trying to defend the guy. I’m just saying that the accusation that we have a muslim judge letting off his muslim friends for assault may not be accurate. That being the case, people should probably hold off before screaming about sharia.

Also, the guy said he’s an army veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think it would be funny if we found out he’s not only confused about his religion, but also about his veteran status. If you get what I’m trying to say…

Athena

Muslim or not, he sure acted like one.

District Judge Mark Martin needs a one-way ticket to Guantanamo Bay

rgeryheyh

too bad the judge doesnt suffer from a sudden “breitbart style” ending, right obama?
