Hippies’ drone shot down by pigeon hunters
Somewhere in South Carolina, local hunters were planning on a day of pigeon hunting when they were thwarted by animal rights activists who threatened to film the activity with their drone aircraft. When the hunt was canceled, the hippies decided to launch their crude aircraft anyway. Then they got upset when pigeon hunters shot down their bird;
“Seconds after it hit the air, numerous shots rang out,” Hindi said in the release. “As an act of revenge for us shutting down the pigeon slaughter, they had shot down our copter.”
He claimed the shooters were “in tree cover” and “fled the scene on small motorized vehicles.”
“It is important to note how dangerous this was, as they were shooting toward and into a well-travelled highway,” Hindi stated in the release. He said someone from SHARK called the Colleton County Sheriff’s Department, which took a report of the incident.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Department filed a malicious damage to property incident report.
So, just to make sure I got this right, the hippies stopped some hunters from shooting things down from the skies, so they launched their thing that can fly in celebration and they’re upset that it got shot down? Seems to me it was inevitable. If they didn’t want their little toy shot down, they shouldn’t have launched it. I’d be tempted to shoot at it, too.

As a drone owner AND a hunter, I’m laughing my ass off. Only a liberal would not think to fly above the range of the shotgun.
Hope it was one of the REALLY EXPENSIVE FPV’s and not some cheap tinker toy.

Lee: my guess is that they were using a cheap camera and needed to fly low. And I’d also guess none of them had ever served in the military – and thus never even thought about the possibility of drawing ground fire. (smile)

I think the bird hunters showed admirable restraint. Ever read the blogs about hunting from the eco-terrorists? They’re always talking about how hunters ought to be shot themselves. I think the hunters did well just to shoot down the drone.

It gets better: if you read the comments on the original article, they “activists” showed up late, and didn’t get the drone into the air until just as everyone was shutting down. Much of the article seems to come from an interview done with the activists rather than the hunters (whose side seems to come out in the overwhelmingly supportive comments) and what they reported as hunters being frightened off by their big bad drone was really everyone going home at the end of the event. So not only did they lose an expensive piece of equipment for sticking their noses where they don’t belong, they were completely ineffectual into the bargain! As to the shooter(s?), well done! We need more like this to tell nosy busybodies to piss off and leave folk in peace

Not to get all conspiratorial … it would not be out of the real of possibility of them running “false flag” type operations to make the hunters appear in a negative light.

#14: Of course they arrived late. You can’t expect hippies to get up early to stop the hunters. They sleep in, show up to time their arrival with the hunters leaving, and claim victory.
@18 Yes, you are correct. I belonged to a riding association years ago that sponsored endurance rides. An assortment of animal rights activists showed up to protest the ride. The riders got suspicious and went to check the horses (screened from sight by their trailers) and found several activists getting ready to nick the horses’ tendons, to “sore” them (lame them) so they couldn’t participate in the ride.
Several of the association riders held them until the police came and arrested them.
What, it took three shots to take down that whirlybird? Those hunters need to go back to skeet school. What was it my pappy said….watchur ellavasion, wind and site.

They are a bit rough and tumble in Colleton County. They don’t take kindly to hippies or liberal BS. They even let their ghetto folks kill one another quite frequently. It’s just easier that way.
