Another Iranian nuclear scientist killed
Fox News reports that two guys on a motorcycle attached a bomb to an Iranian nuclear scientist’s car and sent him to Allah’s arms this morning;
The attack in Tehran bore a strong resemblance to earlier killings of scientists working on the Iranian nuclear program. It is certain to amplify authorities’ claims of clandestine operations by Western powers and their allies to halt Iran’s nuclear advances.
The bomb killed Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a chemistry expert and a director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in central Iran….
I guess if someone wanted to slow Iran’s nuclear program, that’s certainly the most fun way to do it. Not quite as effective as sending a JDAM down an air vent at the facility. And by saying it’s “Western powers” who are responsible, I’m pretty sure it’s not anyone in Europe or this Administration – it’s a little too bold and effective to be from the West, unless you mean just a few hundred miles west of Iran.

Excellent. A necessary and effective means of deterrence.
Could also be the Iranian resistance.
One thought in my head: Mossad
It’s not a good time to be a nuclear scientist working in Iran. You can’t quit without penalty (death? imprisonment?) and, if you don’t, a violent and sudden death awaits you. Yep, that must really suck.
@3. Sure it is but there’s that proof thing. You can bet the Iranians are looking for tiny pieces of anything with the star of David on it and, when they do not find one, they’ll be busy manufacturing one. Next, there’s that retaliation thing where Iran has its faithful blow up some people in Tel Aviv. Here we go…
It is a never ending dilemma in that part of the world and necessary tactic for a small nation surrounded by enemies that want them off the face of the planet. I can’t see a scenario where that ever changes.
If they’d lie about having a nuclear weapons program, why would they not lie about having the number of their scientists working on a program that doesn’t exist be reduced? How do you choose which story to believe and which not to believe?
This sounds odd to me I wonder what the people at TAH wrote.
I can answer, Curt. They–all of them–wrote: Mareseatoatsanddoseeatoatsandlittlelambseativy. Akidwilleativytoo, wouldn’tyou?
Sounds like being an Iranian nuclear scientist is almost as hazardous to your health as Taliban suicide bomber.
I wonder if someone in the Basij got “Zionist” and “scientist” mixed up when they translated their to-kill list?
Thanks, AirCav, but you didn’t succeed, I managed to turn my head away from the keyboard and monitor.
I wonder if Mahmoud will manufacture a BMW motorcycle with Tel Aviv plates on it, to prove those Jooooo’s did it, with help from the Iraqis and Jordanians?
Maybe they’ll take out Imwearingadinnerjacket once they get done with the scientist list.
…and they did it with a sticky bomb! Priceless.
At least the Iranian are getting a taste of there own medicine here, a little come-upadence with the same crap they’ve pulled in Iraq for eight years.
They tend to blame everything on international Zionism next to us. That said, unlike the virus that crippled their reactor systems awhile back(possibly CIA) this is most likely the Mossad. If for no other reason, I just don’t believe the CIA is that savy outside of the realm reliant on technology and hasn’t been so in 40 years.
This is also the lastest assination, image your an Iranian scientist, are you more or less likely to take such a position today? Iran should undertsand two can play the terror game.
#2 “Could also be the Iranian resistance.” I considered that too but find it unlikely, their targets tend to have been larger, static, and, easier to access, as opposed to individuals. Doesn’t mean there aren’t local assistance involved.
You know a small part of making a fission bomb is shaped (precisely shaped) charges around a Uranium or Plutonium core. If the explosives are sub-par that could make a boom. If it is not in a correct pattern it’ll only make a nastily radioactive cloud, not a thermonuclear explosion.
If this guy was working on Nukes it might explain why he died. Or, maybe there was an accident and he actually died of ARS. That actually would be far worse than dying in an explosion.
