More terrorists off the streets

AndyFMF sent us a couple of links from the FBI website that reports the feds are rolling up terrorists coast-to-coast. From Los Angeles, Oytun Ayse Mihalik, 39, of La Palma, California, a Turkish woman with a permanent residency card got her ass snagged at the airport on her way to Turkey. The feds say she has been sending money to someone in Pakistan;

The indictment alleges three counts of providing money to an individual located in Pakistan with the knowledge that the money would be used to prepare for and carry out attacks that would kill United States military personnel and other persons overseas. Mihalik allegedly sent a total of $2,050 in three wire transfers to the person in Pakistan over the course of three weeks at the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011.

The fourth count of the indictment charges Mihalik with making false statements to special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Yeah, don’t lie to the FBI.

The other article, from late last month, is about a Massachusetts man, Tarek Mehanna, 29, who is facing a life prison vacation for “conspiracy to provide material support to al Qaeda; providing material support to terrorists (and conspiracy to do so); conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country; conspiracy to make false statements to the FBI; and two counts of making false statements”.

“From his travel to Yemen to receive training to kill American soldiers to his material support for terrorism at home, Mr. Mehanna’s efforts to use and support violence followed no pre-defined path and knew no bounds,” said Richard DesLauriers, the Special Agent in Charge of the Boston FBI. “The FBI has a clarion mission to investigate all potential threats to the United States in order to protect our community from harm. The FBI fulfilled its most important mission by stopping Mehanna’s conspiracy to support terrorism, the goal of which was an unlawful affront to our nation’s cherished ideal of peaceful dissent.”

Nice to see the feds doing their jobs, but it’s disturbing that there seems to be an increase in the number of plots. Get your CCW license, you’re our last line of defense and the Terror War is following our troops home.
