I’ll admit it. I Thought Ron Paul Was Crazier Than Me!

| December 13, 2011

I try to always offer a sort of balance til now. WAPO again, and this time a genuine OPED piece.

Five myths about Ron Paul

Sorry folks, you will have to read the whole thing, but I’ll give you this bit:

Unlike his fellow, er, top-tier candidates Gingrich and Romney, Paul served his country in uniform, as an Air Force captain. However, his opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and his insistence that military spending can be cut without endangering U.S. lives, have led some to conclude that his foreign policy non-interventionism equals unilateral disarmament.

Oddly,  I have read much of what Ron Paul has actually said. If I had to position this piece I’d  suggest that some folks are raising him up to be a spoiler.

Back to singing Kumbaya…

Zero? You can sing Kumbaya? *giggle* You are not crazier than Ron Paul unless you’ve noticed the CODEPink and rest of the anti-war horde following you around…

Yes, he was an Air Force Captain. His job? Medical services. Doctor Ron Paul was the base gynecologist.

To me, it explains a lot why his world-view is so warped.

I notice that the article stays completely away from the subject of his barely contained racism and anti-semitism. I take it those aspects of Ronulus Prime AREN’T myths, contrary to what the Paulistinians shriek whenever the issue is brought up. One would think, that would be one of the FIRST myths about Ron Paul’s character they’d want to shoot down, if it was, indeed mythical…

Notice that our resident Ronulans of late have sidestepped those inconvenient facts. Telling, ain’t it?

“…have led some to conclude that his foreign policy non-interventionism equals unilateral disarmament.” thats exactly what it is. Paul is pretty unfront about. He does not want a robust military for what he thinks it maybe used for. He doesn’t believe in “interventions” so he wants the military cut to near impotence. Rand also believes the same but he masks his intentions more then his old man.

This is an impasse with the vast majority of conservatives and Paulites that can’t be bridged.

Thats just one issue with Mr Paul, nevermind the border.

The author Nick Gillespie works for “Reason” magazine and frankly, like many libertarines, is kinda of douchebag as well.

One last point “Paul served his country in uniform, as an Air Force captain.”, so did McGovern(USAAF). Whats your point? Just because you served doesn’t mean I’d vote for you, but I will add it to my evaluation of said person.

UpNorth

You were quite correct, Zero. He is crazier than you, and most of the rest of us, are.

@6 – Nick may well be one, but I’ll take a douchebag libertine over a douchebag fundamentalist any day.

As for Paul, I like him in Congress, but wouldn’t want him in the Oval Office. Crazy is subjective, but he certainly is on some issues.

#9 “Nick may well be one, but I’ll take a douchebag libertine over a douchebag fundamentalist any day.” Well your definition of fundamentalist might be different from mine for starters.

CI

@10 – As yours and mine for libertine…..
