Rounding up the hippies in LA and Philly

| November 30, 2011

The Associated Press reports that 1400 cops moved into the Occupy encampment in LA early this morning and arrested 200 of the smelly creatures. Meanwhile in Philly, another 50 were herded into the hoosegow for refusing to abandon their social event;

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa raised public safety and health concerns in announcing plans for the eviction last week, while Philadelphia officials said protesters must clear their site to make room for a $50 million renovation project.

Defiant Los Angeles campers who were chanting slogans as the officers surrounded the park, booed when an unlawful assembly was declared, paving the way for officers to begin arresting those who didn’t leave.

Will the hippies learn their lessons and grow the hell up? Doubtful;

Opamago Cascini, 29, said the night had been a blast and he was willing to get arrested.

Maybe the cops should adopt the conditions of Egyptian police and make arrest a little less pleasurable and then maybe people will obey the law again.

First you come out in support of it, then you wonder why they don’t like you anymore, Antonio.

Jesus, go back to East LA College and rile up the students. It was about the only thing you were good at back in the day.

And anyone “willing to get arrested” isn’t exactly someone who is going to bust his ass to become a productive member of society living off his own efforts instead of mooching off the rest of us.

Bobo

If this were any other country, the rubber bullets would have been issued weeks ago.

NHSparky

And in a lot of countries, they would have forgone the rubber bullets for real ones. These guys call us brutal and uncivilized, yet it’s the restraint and civility we have shown that has kept them out of the hospital for the most part thus far.

I really wonder what the final bill will be for all the OWS “rallies” At least the TEA party paid its way.

NHSparky

Look at it this way, Doc–LAPD never had to wear hazmat suits to clear out TEA Party protestors.

#4 Doc: if they use DOD accounting, it’s about $1 billion per day. If they use Democrats’ accounting, it’s all Bush’s Fault. If they use GOP accounting, it’s 15 minutes to tee-off and martinis.

OWS is the cancer, LAPD and Philly PD are the surgeons. Well done.

“And anyone “willing to get arrested” isn’t exactly someone who is going to bust his ass to become a productive member of society”. Sparky, it’s that time of year, getting colder, rain, snow in some places. It’s time to get arrested, 3 hots and a cot, and a roof. If you don’t pay rent, you go wherever you can go to get it. Jail is easy, compared to, you know, work.

North, this is SoCal. 40 degrees in the morning is bitter for these clowns. I call that June around here. And with the new jail policy (seen Lindsay Lohan, et al.,) they probably won’t be in a warm dry building for longer than it takes to take a mugshot and run a set of prints.

UpNorth

I know, Spark, when my oldest was at 29 Stumps, we visited. It got down in the 70’s at night, and everyone was putting on sweat shirts and jeans. Just amazing.
And, the Occutards know how to game the system, they’ll spit on a corrections officer, or take a swing at one, so they get to stay longer.

Doc Bailey

see now where is Eric Cartman when you need him. I like the South Park method of using a massive drill to bore a way through the Hippie Jam Fest.

#2) If this were a Muslim country, REAL bullets would have been issued weeks ago.

malclave

Up-twinkles to the LAPD officers, who were finally allowed to do their jobs.

boy

In Syria or Egypt or Israel or Iran the real bullets would have bin brought out long ago. Yet in the USA that I grew up in the police would not have removed the protestors. In the USA that I grew up in Andy Griffen would have shown up and talked with the protestors and convinced them with a critique or pure reason to go home. Or, after listening to the complaints of the prostestors Andy would have agreed with them
a drove to city hall or the state capitol and again through a
critque of pure reason persuaded the political powers that be to make the protestors happy.

Virtual Insanity

#14 You should try living in the real USA. I work in the virtual world, but live in the real one. There’s a difference.

boy

In the real world America that I grew up Americans did not grade themselves on a curve. They did not point to bannana republics and say, Oh look how barbaric they do things there.
We are not as barbaric here. That makes us civilized.

You can say you are great because you got a better grade than the class burnour how got a D just because he came to class and did not disrupt it or your can compare yourself to Tammy Tomlison (tops in a class of around 800) and say that even though you got a C plus or a B minus maybe you can do better next time.
