Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting In Port Orange Area
Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting reported around 7:40 p.m. on Jackson Lane, Port Orange. One person is deceased. The shooter is being interviewed and all parties involved in the incident are accounted for. Additional details will be posted in the future as the active investigation progresses.
Case update (10/27/24):
A Port Orange man was fatally shot Saturday evening when he drove his truck at two people during a neighborhood altercation.
Volusia sheriff’s detectives responded to the shooting reported around 7:40 p.m. on Jackson Lane, off Tomoka Farms Road west of Port Orange. The shooter and witnesses remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The deceased was found in the driver’s seat of his pickup when deputies arrived.
The following is a brief summary of the findings of the initial investigation.
Detectives learned the driver, identified as 47-year-old Marcus Blicker, started following and erratically swerving at 2 vehicles (driven by a neighbor’s son and his friend) after they drove past his house in their vehicles. The son called his father and told him he was being followed. When they got to the house, Blicker pulled in too, yelling and threatening the two drivers.
The father came outside armed with a rifle, told Blicker to leave, and fired warning shots in the air. Blicker’s truck reversed for a moment, then sped forward toward the father and another person who was standing nearby. The father fired several shots at the truck as it drove at them, and the truck came to a stop in the front yard.
The incident was captured on video and audio recordings, which supported the shooter’s and witnesses’ accounts.

A Rottweiler dog in Blicker’s truck was injured during the shooting but is expected to recover. Volusia County Animal Services responded and transported the dog for veterinary care.

Poor pooch. Thanks once again, Gun Bunny.
The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.

The Longview man with his new hole learnt that one doesn’t fuck around behind the Pine Curtain, unless one wants to also find out.
Those uncontrolled tempers will get you in trouble.
Soooo…Girls and Boys…the lessons we take away from today are:
Don’t force your way into anybody’s home
Don’t try to steal from others
Don’t take a truck to a gunfight (Tox, check the Binder)
If you’re gonna deep throat a plasticized abomination look at a CZ
Even 200+ plus years ago Mr. Hamilton was telling us of the need to…Prepare
My sympathies to the injured Rottie.
Hmmm………a truck to a gunfight.
Not gonna dig into the Deep Archives of the 3″ three ring loose leaf binder of T2NB2AGF, so I’ll just bookmark and research later.
I would also add; NEVER fire warning shots. Not only are they a waste of ammo, but they are illegal in most jurisdictions.
Every round you fire you are responsible for where it lands. If that round lands in the body of a person not involved in your dispute you are looking at a Manslaughter charge, and a very long stay in a place where the other residents will be making visits for “romantic encounters” on a regular basis.
A solid “one shot stop” serves as a strong warning to the others.
I *fucking love* my CZ P-10C.
