I dunno if this is legit, I ain’t on site in Oakland.
An Open Letter to the Citizens of Oakland from the Oakland Police Officers’ Association

We represent the 645 police officers who work hard every day to protect the citizens of Oakland. We, too, are the 99% fighting for better working conditions, fair treatment and the ability to provide a living for our children and families. We are severely understaffed with many City beats remaining unprotected by police during the day and evening hours.

As your police officers, we are confused.

Fascinating, but YMMV.

Still don’t know what a “YMMV” is. Is it akin to a ComNavForSubLant?

Similar to W.I.T.H. ??

So, a dem mayor is paying employees to not work, but she turns around and forces cops to work their day off? But, I’d bet that if a non-uniformed employee shows up for work tomorrow, there won’t be anyone there to supervise. But, if a cop doesn’t show tomorrow, I’d bet that a doctor’s excuse won’t get them excused, regardless if they were having their appendix out, or a limb removed.
Hey, Oakland PD, why don’t all of you take tomorrow off? See how the mayor reacts to that, see how the taxpayers like being at the mercy of the Occutards.

CI Roller Dude

I just watched the news today…the President of Oakland Police Officer Assoc was on…he was saying that the dumb ass (my words) mayor retard (my word) gave orders to the police chief that she wanted the park cleared out. When it went to shit, she pretended like she knew nothing about it…then threw the cops under the political bus.
For 11/2/11, she told the city workers that they could take time off work to go join the protest—except the cops…which she ORDERED in and canceled days off, vacation and put them on to cover the protest…but the cops have no clear guides or orders.

If I was an Oakland cop, I think I’d retire today…there are a lot of good cops there with no leadership, under staffed etc…getting the blame for all the problems due to an retarded mayor.

Doc Bailey

its tough to be a cop in this day in age. Hated for doing your job, and despised because you don’t do it fast enough.

Anon2

It’s tough to to be a WalMart employee too. Paid a union (minimum wage) wage for telling me where shit is, and despised because you suck out profits from a Wall Street guy like me.

Doc Bailey

um dude, they’re not paid minimum wage. Its not a grate wage, but I’ve NEVER heard of anyone starting off at walmart at minimum wage. and trust me when I say, its better they’re NOT union.

Well, at least one cable news network has picked up the letter and the talking head has read excerpts on the air. Apparently the whipsaw of ‘Sic em’ followed by “oh you horrible brutes!’ really got the Police Chief’s back up, cancelled leaves notwithstanding.

Instinct

And this is just after their former police chief quit in disgust over the way his department and officers were treated. He was given all the responsibility to get the department up to standards but was hamstrung at every turn by Mayor Retard.

The Oakland City Government feels about cops the same way they do about the military – they hate them.
