Why is this news?

| October 10, 2011

My wife worked at Walter Reed during the Bush Administration and it was at least once a month she’d complain about how the Secret Service screwed up parking there because the president was visiting. There were no press releases or reports, so I’ve just been assuming that Obama was doing the same thing over the last few years…but apparently not.

It’s such a rare event that Associated Press thought it was worth an article.

And the president will “travel to suburban Bethesda”? It’s ten miles – a few minutes by helicopter. AP makes it sounf as if he has to go half-way across the country.

“AP makes it sound as if he has to go half-way across the country.”
He has to go further then that, politically.
He has to go from talking to and attempting to appease the out-of-work, FSA, and welfare recipients, to pretending to talk to the military. Big difference.

As for assumptions about Obama, you will be right nearly every time if you assume that he will take the self-serving course of action over the selfless one every time. In fact, I am quite confident that the AP story, furnished to it by the WH Press Office, is the most important element of the trip for Obama.

[…] This ain’t Ain’t Hell points out that President Obama visits to Walter Reed are so rare that AP decided to put out a story on it. Unlike President Bush who visited so often that staff complained that he really messed up parking. […]

Flagwaver

You know, I do not typically enjoy watching a train wreck, but watching Obama campaigning is almost as fun as a wreck in Nascar… though, not quite so colorful.

Colorful, flag? You racist.

On another note, look for the pics to be on the primetime newscasts tonight and in tomorrow’s editions of the major morning papers.

Flagwaver

I’m not a racist, I hate everyone equally.

Wait, since you accused me of being a racist without cause, does that make you a democrat?

😛

“President Barack Obama(the Lame One) begins his week by paying tribute to himself, by conducting a photo-op with wounded service members”. Fixed your lead-in for ya, AP, and I did it free of charge.

Toothless Dawg

Seeking to find common ground with the wounded warriors at Bethesda, during a photo-op briefing Obama said, “You know, uh, I, uh, once sprained my ankle, uh, while, uh, shooting hoops”

Old Trooper

I don’t recall anyone in the Bush administration making a big deal of visiting the wounded. I do remember that Bobo wanted to make a big deal about visiting the wounded in Germany, when he was there to campaign in Berlin (why campaign on foreign soil?), but wasn’t allowed to bring his entourage with him, including his photographer, so he decided to shoot hoops instead.

Yeah, he really gives 2 shits about the troops.

OT: Yes, he cares. What better evidence of his heartfelt concern exists than this June 2011 Obama statement at Fort Drum to 10th Mountain Division troops: “I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”

Staff Sergeant Jared C. Monti was killed in action, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan on June 21, 2006. For his uncommon valor that date, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. God bless him and his family.
