IVAW on Wall Street
I’m pretty sure that they’re not there to check on their mutual fund investments.
I wonder what their presence there has to do with ending the war – I guess they’re just there to wear the shirts. The ninja who sent this picture to me wonders how many of them have set foot outside of the United States. I noticed that there’s no combat patch on the BDU shirt…and no CAB. I’m not familiar enough with Marine awards to comment on his status, but here’s a larger photo so you can tell me;
Added: Of course the best way to pick up chicks is to wear your K-pot (do they still call it that?);
Category: Iraq Veterans Against the War
based on the blurry pic, I see a NUC, MUC, Good Cookies, Firewatch ribbon, can’t tell about the next 4 but the last one looks like the NATO non-Art 5 medal from the Balkans. But definitely NO Combat Action Ribbon
Concur with Stacy. Highest award is a NAM by the looks of it.
And no GWOT, SWA, or Navy Expeditionary either.
Looks like an Afghan Campaign and Iraqi Freedom Medal, def no CAR…
Remember, these ARE Matthis’ friends, God forbid, any of them ever left the wire!
Frankly, I wouldn’t care if he was a combat veteran. You don’t wear the uniform for political purposes. What a shitebird.
Probably got the medals off the internet to impress the groupies and make them think he was something. Bet if you ask him he was special forces working for the CIA—-LOL
#6: You’re right. And he shouldn’t be wearing ribbons from a war he is against.
Like Peter Anglims comment
yeah, not seeing a Combat Action on that thing…
Here’s what I do know:
Top Row: NAM, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct
Middle Row: NDSM, Don’t know, Don’t know
Bottom Row: Don’t know, Sea Service Ribbon, Don’t know.
But yeah, nothing in there which would indicate service in Iraq/Afghanistan, and as has been repeatedly stated, no CAR.
Just throwing it out there, What good is it to be against a war that is essentially over?
I love that reply on that photo. Ain’t that a load of truth.
So yeah you didn’t know who your enemy was? How about the guys shooting at you retard.
This is one of the most retarted protests ever. I wonder if even half have any clue what they are protesting…I sure as hell don’t.
That’s just it Doc. Apparently, according to his ribbons, he’s never been where people were shooting at him. Don’t ask me where he “fought” before.
Oh… my bad. Wrong dufus. Perhaps he was where people were shooting at HIM.
Maybe you guys should do a little research before making ignorant assumptions about IVAW as well as the members representing it??
Could be Navy/MC Commendation, Navy/MC Achievement, Good Conduct, National Defense, Afghan Campaign, Iraq Campaign, GWOT-Service, Sea Service and the last is a wash. Can’t see the stars on sea service, but I guess there is two deployments, No CAR, but the kid may have done a good job while he served. Doesn’t mean he is not a stupid brother…still a brother. I really like that the guy wearing his melon guard holding the sign calls fellow Americans the enemy…awesome…Semper Fidelis.
Haley–I’d dare say the posters here, especially the board owner, has done far more research on IVAW and the outright frauds they’ve committed. Matter of fact, a few IVAW members have posted here semi-regularly.
Hang around here a while, you might learn something. Then again, I kinda doubt it.
And Crusty–no way in hell that’s a NCM on the top row. NCM is white stripe on the green. That one is orange stripes–NAM.
Its a pretty blurry photo, but yes, I think you are right there. N/MC AM, NUC GCM.
Haley…
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Really?
Sparky’s right, stick around and learn something.
The ribbon in the center appears to be an Afghanistan Campaign Medal. The absence of a combat action ribbon proves nothing; one is only awarded a CAR when you receive and return enemy fire. Plenty of Marines, myself included have done tours in Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom but don’t rate a CAR. Assuming this douchbag actually rates the awards he’s wearing, the Afghanistan Campaign and Sea Service Deployment ribbons alone tell me he’s been there.
And the ribbon at the lower right in the photo could be a NATO ISAF Medal, which would be consistent with a tour in Afghanistan. Still, he’s a slimy bit of scum for wearing the uniform inappropriately and deserves to have it torn off his back.
Sea Service doesn’t mean shit–he could have been on a carrier as well.
Sparky, we call Sea Service any maritime or amphibious or FMF deployment. At least 120 days…I doubt he has a day of MEU time. 2 deployments, 1 Iraq, 1 Afghanistan…To TopGoz, he never got shot at regardless of his response, never got blown up, never got sustained indirect fires in his proximity nor conducted any reconnaissance mission with a reasonable expectation of combat…and yes, he never fired his weapon in anger…nor have I but I have a lot of patrols behind me, here, Iraq and in the southern Philippines…never got shot at, never got blown up, plenty of IDF in Iraq, none sustained…is what it is…no CAR for me either
Haley in #16: Maybe you should practice what you preach? If you had, then you wouldn’t have made the ignorant statement you did. Something tells me that it wouldn’t have made any difference if you had done any research, though.
Can’t you be brought up under UCMJ (at least Art 15) for wearing a uniform, especially a dress uniform, to a political rally or event??
Given the way these “military” douchebags are plastering their mugs all over the media, I expect there to be NO problem for their commanders to find them guilty . . . . that is, assuming they are or ever were military to begin with.
@23- Sparky, we stopped carrying leathernecks on carriers somewhere in the late ’90s. I guess the brass figured GMs are good enough for actually shooting the guns they maintain. Carrier MA divisions and security details are now TAD affairs, with MAs running the show. Unless it has changed since I’ve been out, marines only deploy on gator freighters nowadays.
K-pot!!!
LMAO!!
Teddy…thanks. Guess I’m showing my age.
Kinda blurry pic of awards….but NONE of the ribbons appear to be Campaign Ribbons!…. no SSDR or CAR either so my guess is typewriter jockey (Admin guys get all the Commendation Medals anyway…lol)
Lthrnck 1775
Leatherneck, he made it to the big two, Iraq and Afghan campaign medals and the SSDR. Sparky set me straight on the top row…Semper Fi
Oops.. thanks Crusty – i couldn’t recognize the SSDR in the blurry pic (old!) – sure thats not some Humanitarian? – or ID the campaign ribbons either. Wouldn’t they have star/cluster anyway? Can you do one tour and out?
Is the sequence even correct?
Also you need permission (used to) to wear your Blues especially to an “appearance”.
Lthrnck 1775
Not just a slimy scum, but in violation of the UCMJ specifically prohibits the wearing of uniforms at political events.
Sorry, no it’s not called a K-pot or just Kevlar anymore. It’s now called your ACH(Army Combat Helmet), along with EyePro,HearPro(ballistic safety glasses, ear plugs that lets low level sound in but reduces high level overpressure), IBA Rack(Individual Body Armor vest with all your battle rattle and CamelBack hydration system hung on it. Woops, almost forgot, don’t call it battle rattle any more either…
@27 Teddy996: There are Marine F/A-18 fighter squadrons regularly deployed aboard aircraft carriers as part of the Carrier Air Wing. That’s how I spent 6 months on the USS Nimitz in 2005. Marines are awarded SSDR for any overseas deployment for which they are deployed more than 90 days (1 SSDR per deployment).
Do we have an identity of this clown? What he’s doing in many ways is much worse than what Adam Kokesh did a few years back. At least Kokesh was on the IRR, attempted to strip his nametape and identifiers from his uniform, and performed his asshattery with a tinge of flair. This guy here is more of a lemming that is happy being used by his Socialist masters. He should be held accountable at NJP.
@35- Interesting. The GW had no marine aircraft on board that I can recall, ’98-’02. Perhaps it’s just specific airwings that contain marine hornet squadrons.
Do the marine aircrew follow the skittle shirt pattern that the navy aircrew use to distinguish rating?
@37 The multi-color flight deck jerseys are worn by the Marines as well. Green for maintainers, red for ordnance, white for quality assurance and safety. There are no blue, yellow, or purple shirts in the Marine squadron; those duties (aircraft handlers and refuelers) are ship’s company.
Only certain air wings have Marine squadrons assigned; we were with Carrier Air Wing 11.
There is actually a documentary on Netflix shot during that 2005 Nimitz tour. The show is called “Carrier.” I just finished watching it last week. I was working for MACG-28 at the time, and I knew there were Marine aircraft from a carrier flying overwatch missions, but I didn’t know much else. It was cool to see some of those guys in the doc.
@39 The film crews were a nuisance and spent the entire cruise aboard ship. More than once they we escorted from the flight deck because they were becoming a distraction or were just getting in the way. At one point during the cruise, word came down that we were forbidden from saying “that’s so gay” because one member of the film crew was offended.
I almost never write remarks, however I browsed a great deal of comments here This
ain’t Hell, but you can see it from here ? Blog Archive ? IVAW on Wall Street. I actually do have 2 questions for you if it’s okay.
Is it only me or do a few of these comments appear like they are coming from brain dead visitors?
😛 And, if you are writing on additional sites, I’d like to keep up with you. Could you make a list of all of all your public pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
