Need a tax break? Be illegal.
The Washington Post reports that the IRS forked over $4.2 billion in tax breaks to illegal aliens in 2010;
“The disconcerting findings in this report demand immediate attention and action from Congress and the Obama Administration,” [Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah)] said in a statement.. “With our debt standing at over $14.5 trillion and counting, it’s outrageous that the IRS is handing out refundable tax credits…to those who aren’t even eligible to work in this country.”
Wage earners who do not have Social Security numbers and are not authorized to work in the United States can use what the IRS calls individual taxpayer identification numbers. Often these result in fraudulent claims on tax returns, auditors found.
Their data showed that 72 percent of returns filed with taxpayer identification numbers claimed the child tax credit.
The audit recommended that the IRS seek clarification on the law and check the immigration status of filers with taxpayer indentificaion numbers.
Really? They needed an audit to tell the IRS to check the immigration status of tax payers?

I’d like to see a candidate who will eliminate programs like this and the EIC….among many others. Which is why I’m not impressed by empty campaign promises. This could have been cut many years ago.

An illegal alien cannot qualify for a legitimate Social Security number, to file income tax returns, so they use the ITIN number issued by the IRS. This questionable program was intended to assuage that tax burden on the lowest American income earners, but in recent years has shown to be rife with fraud. President Obama’s stimulus program included tax cuts for low-income workers. Obama’s intention was, to put cash back into taxpayers’ hands, so they will spread it around to heighten the economy. But thanks to the (EITC) Earned Income Tax Credit, the majority of this “tax relief” will go to individuals who have never paid anything in taxes—NOT A DARN CENT—and have already defrauded prior administrations and today’s government in massive sums each year—to Illegal aliens. .” We the taxpayers are the gullible idiots who pay for their squatting here. The Inspector General said that the IRS should require those claiming the credit to prove that they are actually eligible to work here legally? The agency in charge of forcing us to pay for Obamacare gives out our money to illegals and claims it has no power to do otherwise. If they can force lawful americans to do something why cant they force illegals to do something also like go the fuck home?
