When I think of vacation hotspots, the war torn Middle East or Northern Africa immediately comes to mind. That and any other country on the State Department’s warning list. /sarc off

Why would someone go for a bike ride around Tripoli during the middle of this? What’s next, fishing for Tuna off the coast of Somalia?

Actually I was thinking of a nighttime walking tour of the historic districts of Compton, East St. Louis, and Newark.

TSO, for the same reason that some folks go hiking along the border between Iraq and Iran.
Sparky, and if you get around Michigan, give me a call, I’ll give you a walking tour of the “historic” districts of Detroit, Grand Rapids, Pontiac, Flint and Saginaw.

Probably that breed of biker that thinks the little biker suit and cool looking helmet makes them immune to all laws–include the laws of nature, warfare and the physics of rapidly moving projectiles.

Our town deer have learned to use the crosswalks and go with the lights; it’s our cyclists and runners that get hit anymore, not the deer.

Maybe we’re culling the wrong herd…

OK, I’ve bicycled through Vietnam on a tourist trip in 1997. I’ve been to Lebanon as part of a Christian holy sight tour in 1996. I have wanted (but cannot afford) to go mountain climbing in Pakistan. I’ve eaten hot dogs at kiosks in Medellin, Columbia in the middle of the night after club hopping. But this is just stupid. No American should be vacationing in Libya right now for any reason at all. And if they do, they can’t be surprised when bad things happen to them.
