Bellavia = Benedict Arnold?

| May 15, 2011

Also via FB (and my sense of humor): NY26: Is War Hero Bellavia Channeling Benedict Arnold?

Former candidate and NY-26 hopeful David Bellavia has thrown his support behind Tea Party phony, candidate Jack Davis.

Bellavia’s endorsement of Davis is obviously a slap in the face to the GOP organization in the district after he failed to win the party line (which Assemblywoman Jane Corwin carries, along with the coveted Conservative Party line) and failed to make it on the ballot.

Jonn made an effort up in NY for Bellavia and this article is worth reading.  The juxtaposition is simply entertaining.  To be clear – I’d vote for Bells.

There is no reason for Bellavia to swap horses midstream ….None. Ya know? Whatever the outcome, he did it out of spite, Dumbass. Next time David, you might pay attention you coulda smoked that race dude….Had you paid attention.

The clown, Frank Seabrook, who wrote that is a fucking dumbass. It looks like he read about Arnold once and wanted to tell us about what he thinks is exclusive knowledge about Arnold. We should all read a book, right, Frank?

The backstory on Davis is that he was the only candidate out of the three who spoke out about the injustice that kept Bellavia off of the ballot and encouraged the election board to let Bells get on the ballot.

If Bellavia told the story of how he and his family were harassed and publicly lied about by the Corwin campaign, everyone would understand why he can’t support Corwin’s candidacy. I’m glad to see that the commenters on that post took up for David.

I’ve criticized Bellavia and his political decision here before. In all seriousness, he’s David up against the goliath of establish machine politics.

That’s why they call it a machine: every process is finely tuned to specific tolerances, with the outcome being a candidate who’s exactly the same as every single Republican candidate in NY-26. Kinda bland, rich enough to throw away a couple million in the campaign, and will vote predictably.

NY-26 represents the “Martyr Vote.” Why martyr? Because they’ll never win the governorship, speaker of the House, or senate majority in NY. They’ll never win a federal Senate seat. They’ll never win a vote in Albany, or in DC. But they’re good sports about it all and accept their dhimmitude with aplomb.

Bellavia, whom I’ve criticized, really should consider abandoning the cemetary that is NY-26 to its dead, and get his tuckus out west. His role may not be congresscritter, but fundraiser? Public speaker? Ground organizer?

Nothing personal, but he’s fighting a fight on ground not of his choosing. That doesn’t make him Benedict Arnold. More like Mad Anthony Wayne.

Ok. Your no fool Lilyea. I know that, you know that and so everybody and their dog here. The back, back story on Davis is, he is a fQQking demonrat and used Bellavia, and he slapped up a citizen journalist. Big bad tough demonrat Nam vet, slapped up a citizen journalist. Wooo what a tough guy. Em! That just makes me shake in my boots, NOT! Now, I mentioned when this started, and I did say Bellavia? Get a phone bank set up.

How do you think Scott Brown got elected? It wasn’t by the good grace of God. We manned phones, we did it for the nookie and stuck a cookie up the other parties ass and she didn’t get elected. We also knew Brown might falter, when the unions threw their support behind him but? He was far better than the other two. He is replaceable and was the stop gap vote on Obama’s Not Your Health Care.

With Bellavia? Had he got phone banks up a lot of people some of whom had no idea who he is other than an Iraq vet? He might have delivered a resounding beat down on his competitors then throws his support behind Davis? Throwing your support behind a left loon?

Come on, that’d be like wanting Kokesh to win city dump supervisor’s position even though he isn’t qualified for that either.

If nothing else, when it was over Bellavia still would have had a shot at being elected the city dog catcher for crying out loud. Risk verses reward, the majority of the voting public in NY 26 would have known who David Bellavia is.

All I’m saying.

If your going to compare somebody to Benedict Arnold, they better have handed over West Point to the British. Otherwise, it’s a ridiculous smear.

“The backstory on Davis is that he was the only candidate out of the three who spoke out about the injustice that kept Bellavia off of the ballot and encouraged the election board to let Bells get on the ballot.”

If Davis is a spoiler candidate, then it’s not really surprising that he’d push for another conservative challenger to be added to the ballot.

Lilyea justifies Bellavia’s endorsement by noting how poorly he was treated by the GOP and Corwin. That might be an argument against endorsing Corwin, but I don’t see how that’s an argument for endorsing Davis.

The DC tells why Jack Davis and why Bellavia didn’t garner TEA whatever support in his district.
