Via FB and Lt. Col. Hal Moore:
CSM Plumley and LTG Moore debating who shot Maggie the Mule on the Perimeter at An Khe. Circumstantial evidence points to Gilreath’s platoon. Gilreath is adamant that Maggie did not respond with the password when challenged. Plumley admits the mule carcas found its way to 1/9 Cav area. No further contact. LZXRAY 1/7 Cav reunion Columbus GA
Sometimes things just crack me up. I’m trying to figure out just what might have started the discussion?
Category: Pointless blather
I’d say about 4 shots of whiskey, each, started the convo.
Speaking of, I present this.

Okay Spork #2:
I might hurt myself laughing and it’ll be yer fault.
Oh my God! The infamous “mule shooting”….Laughing my butt off! How’d you find this again? LOL! Never mind, Gilbreath’s platoon paid lmao! Damn mule, it shoulda known the pass word.
HEHE!
Eh Spork? The year LTC Moore was in Benning is off on that link by a long shot. He and the US 7th Cav troopers had 18 months there before shipping out 09/1965 for ‘Nam. Just saying. This story is pure US 7th Cavalry history and I love it. HEHEHE…hahaha!
Airborne doesn’t have any ‘Nam story to match this one, except maybe a 506 unit intercepting high value load of chow headed to brigade, rofl! CID had fun trying to figure that one out….
