Panetta to Defense, Petraeus to CIA?

| April 27, 2011

TSO sends a link from Politico who thinks they have the answer to who will replace Gates as the Defense Secretary;

CIA Director Leon Panetta, the long-rumored frontrunner to replace Defense Secretary Robert Gates, is expected to be Obama’s pick, The Associated Press, NBC News, ABC News and several other sources reported Wednesday morning.

The commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus, is Obama’s choice to replace Panetta at the CIA.

I would think that Petraeus would take Mullen’s slot as Joint Chiefs Chairman, but, I’m sure that the Obama Administration is just trying to keep him on plantation for the next election. Panetta wasn’t qualified for his job at the CIA, so why would we expect Obama to name someone with experience for the Defense Department.

Fox News claims that Ryan Crocker will replace that dick Karl Eikenberry as ambassador to Afghanistan.

I’m sure John Kerry is upset that he wasn’t chosen, but he’s just biding his time for Hillary’s seat next year.

Newsmax reports it’s a go….

Lets see if Panetta can mess up defense as badly as he messed up the CIA

Leon Panetta is one thing: very, very loyal to the Democratic Party. He will do whatever he is told, without question or concern. With DOD needing a budgetary knife, Panetta is the right man to do the cutting.

The free-floating question is where is Odierno going now that JFCOM is shutting down?

LarryT,

CIA was already messed up. It happened with your primary spy agency goes rogue to protect their pay and bennies. Keeping it unfunctional has long been a goal of the Democrats.

I read about this a couple weeks ago in Politico. Panetta leaves me a bit uneasy but Gates is a hard act to follow. He’s loyal, which helps his chances, and the rank and file at CIA seemed to have liked him so that’s worth something. The Petraeus for DCI pick is a bit odd to me. I think they just really want to keep him gainfully employed through the 2012 campaign season and with CJCS spoken for and NATO Supreme Allied Commander a dud of a job I think this was more of a Plan B type thing.

The selection of Panetta for Defense is a critical mistake. Jesus H. Christmas! The two agencies that are responsible for defending our nation — DoD and DHS — are headed up by bumbling political hacks with ZERO, ZILCH, NONE, NADA military experience. Napolitano and Panetta? Mother of God, save us!

Panetta and the CIA were (and continue to be) AWOL on the Mubarak/Egypt situation. He still has no clue about who the Libyan rebels are. And he appears to be outhustled on every development in Syria. North Korea? Nothing. Cuba? Wait until open source reporting gives us the ground truth. Holy crap! This is the guy who is going to head up Defense!!!!

Where the hell is the critical analysis by the media of this fraud, including Fox News?

As the German private said at Normandy on June 6, 1944: “This is not good.”
