Social network phony heroes

| April 27, 2011

The folks at POW Net sent me this link of Paul H. Morgan, aka Paul Henry Morgan, Frank Dourglas, and CPT Edward Ferris who apparently trolls match making web site with the photos and bios of real soldier;

i will tell you more about me if we get talking.
you can add me to chat at yahoomessenger yahoo id is morgan2345678@yahoo.com

So watch out, ladies (although I’m sure our readers of the fairer sex have no problems finding matches).

They also sent me a link of a phony Gold Star uncle;

Here is the FACEBOOK profile of the man posing as the uncle of Dustin Lee: http://www.facebook.com/prichfred [“Patrick Allen Rich has since changed his Facebook privacy settings] Please read through this, it should answer all your questions and should provide proof that the claim that Patrick Allen Rich is a poser and has… impersonated the uncle of a fallen hero and caused grief and suffering to the actual family of Marine Corp Lance Corporal Dustin Lee is a true claim. I am not a member of the family of Dustin Lee, I am merely a citizen who is outraged that anyone would do such a thing as this to a Gold Star Family. I hope that you are also outraged by it, and I ask you to share this on your walls and with your veterans groups. THIS MAN IS A PART OF NUMEROUS VETERANS GROUPS ON FACEBOOK, and THAT SHOULD NOT BE! Why am I doing this? Because the family of Dustin Lee sent me an email and in it they asked me to share this information. I took that request seriously and you should also. That same request is now going out to you. On April the 15th I received an email regarding Patrick Allen Rich, who was one of my Facebook friends. Here is his profile: http://www.facebook.com/prichfred Here is the email I received. My name is lee rich I am the uncle to Marine Cpl Dustin Lee. Patrick Allen is a poser and is has no relationship with my family Dustin has 3 uncles , myself, my brother and his dads brother Greg all reside in the state of Mississippi . I would kindly ask you to pass this on to other that have mutual friends with Patrick Allen rich. He has been reported on FB and turn into the DOD for further investigation. Respectfully, Now upon receiving this I went straight to Patrick Allen Rich’s wall and I scrolled through several pages of posts. I noticed that he referred to Dustin often, although on this first visit I saw no sign of him making an outright claim of being Dustin’s uncle. I did find two comments that were interesting. One said ” I lost Dustin Lee” and the other said ” we have Lex the dog”. Now Lex the dog lives with Dustin’s mom, many of you may have seen him on the news, he was Dustin’s K9 companion and he was injured during the explosion that took Dustin’s life. Because of the great love that Dustin had for this dog, his family started a campaign to adopt him, and they were successful in that campaign. Now Patrick saying “we have Lex the dog” does sort of imply that he is saying he is family. So I sent him this email. Patrick, I received a email today from the family of Dustin Lee stating that you are making wrongful claims of being related to him. I have seen your posts giving tribute to the fallen and believe that you have a heart for them, so rather than simply remove you as a friend I wanted to give you the opportunity to explain. I found a couple of posts where you say things like ” I lost Dustin Lee…….” and a comment where you say that ” we have the dog Lex.” The family state that you have also made comments stating that you were Dustin’s uncle. I respectfully ask that you clarify your comments and this situation. A little while later I went back to his wall and found that I could no longer view it. So I sent him this. I noticed that you have now blocked me from your wall, and without sending any sort of explanation for the matter of Dustin Lee, therefore I guess I have no recourse but to accept that as an admission of guilt. I have verified the credentials of the persons who emailed me regarding this and they are legitimate. I do hope that you did this out of love, and I hope that you will refrain from ever doing it again. It is wrong to pose as the family member or friend of the deceased when you have not that honor. It brings pain to those who truly are their family. He responded with this: i blocked lee rich becouse not you. Like I told him I am not a Uncle nor have I ever meet him I had sent him and Lex care packages and I tool the press that in Missippi I have had this for about 3 years I feel for the families member but I AM NOT Dustins UNCLE. I work with many Military org to help the soldoers not to hurt the families I am truly sorry for any miss understANDING. And yet he posted this on his wall: I responded with this: I am glad to hear you say that, and I suggest that you clarify your position with the family and on your wall. As for your wall I scrolled through posts dating back to February prior to emailing you, shortly after emailing you I was no longer able to view your wall. The family state that they have 30 pages of screenshots off your wall and off the walls of others that imply or outright state that you were Dustin’s family member. I saw two this morning one on another page that said ” I lost Dustin Lee on March 21, 2007″ and another that stated on your own wall that ” We have Lex the dog”. Both of these imply a closeness more than that of someone sending care packages. Perhaps you should make a clear and concise statement about your relationship with Dustin and set the record straight. I urge you to do so as this will rapidly escalate if left unattended. Later that day Dustin’s real uncle, Lee Rich sent me 27 pages of screenshots of Patrick Allen Rich claiming to be Dustin’s uncle, accepting condolences on his behalf, talking about how difficult it is to lose a family member….over and over and over again on his own wall and on the walls of others. I sent him this email and have had no response: Patrick, I am in possession of 27 pages of screenshots many of which clearly show you posting that you are Dustin Lee’s uncle. You lied to me. I don;t know why you chose to do this, but the fact that you refuse to admit it and you refuse to make it right bothers me. Your actions have caused harm to the family, your actions have caused grief to them. You dishonor the name and memory of Dustin Lee by falsely claiming him as a family member. You have not the right to lay that claim. I would have accepted you admitting it and offering your apology to the family, you chose to deny it instead. Whatever your reason for doing this you are in the wrong, and you need to cease and desist right now! The family want you to remove any and all references to LCpl Dustin Lee from your wall and to cease and desist in ever posting it again. You have lost the right to honor him in any way by falsely claiming to be his uncle. Your facebook page is being reported by hundreds of people as I type this. Screenshots showing what you posted are on numerous military sites. I found that I am by no means the first to bring this to light, as I discovered today that you were kicked off of a Gold Star page last week for this very thing. You know from the responses you get on your wall that the military is precious to many, and that veterans guard their own. You can be certain that as each moment ticks, more and more people will know what you have done. Attached is just one of many posts you made regarding Dustin. In it you state that you lost your nephew Dustin Lee. Time to fess up Patrick. Here are screenshots from the 27 pages in my possession that show Patrick Allen Rich claiming to be the uncle of fallen hero Marine Corp Lance Corporal Dustin Lee. PLEASE SHARE THIS NOTE WITH ANYONE AND EVERYONE. GET THE WORD OUT. This man needs to remove ALL references of Dustin Lee from his facebook page. He should NOT be part of any Gold Star groups, he should NOT be part of any PGR groups. He should NOT be part of any groups who’s purpose is to care for our troops, to honor our troops or to care for and honor our veterans. Added: I thought it important to add this. I was pretty angry about all this, and today I read a statement from a member of Dustin Lee’s family. I think it important enough to share with you all, as I have read a few posts suggesting this guy be hung, shot etc. That is not what the family is seeking, and we must adhere to their wishes if we are truly in this to help and assist them. The statement is below. “”The only thing we, the Family of Dustin, want, is him to remove any and all pics, comments, etc of Dustin Jerome Lee and to apologize to others if this has affected them. I have no hate toward this person nor does my family.”” In light of this, I would ask you, if you choose to send this person a message please do so in the spirit seen above in the family comment. Ask him to please remove all references to Dustin, and ask him to refrain from ever doing anything like this again.

That Paul Morgan one of the ones CJ has written about? CJ’s been very good about these kinds of military dating scams. Guy always seems to be a lonely widower with children…
