One shot, two kills

| March 14, 2011

Toothless Dawg sends us a link to start off our week with a warm heart about two British snipers and a motorcycle getaway from UK’s The Telegraph;

Taking deliberate aim, he fired a single shot. The bike tumbled and both men fell onto the road and lay there motionless. When the British patrol returned, they checked the men and confirmed they were both dead, with large holes through their heads.

The 7.62 mm bullet Osmond had fired had passed through the heads of both men. He had achieved the rare feat of ‘one shot, two kills’ known in the sniping business as ‘a Quigley’. The term comes from the 1990 film Quigley Down Under….

The higlighted blurb doesn’t do justice to the story. The two men have 75 confirmed kills in 40 days, which brings their combined total to 105 (most shots at 1,200 meters).

Simply amazing……and then add on the Quigley

Certainly, their shooting is impressive. The thing that caught my attention, though, was the comment about the locals talking with the snipers, and that the locals weren’t scared of them, that they felt they were being protected. That speaks volumes to the the professionalism and heart of these warriors.

Wait! Was the shot made on a Tuesday? Just a wonder’n.
