Columbia U students heckled wounded vet
ROS and Old Trooper send us a link to the NY Post about a rally at Columbia University in NYC at a town hall-style meeting in regards to returning ROTC to the campus. The speaker was Anthony Maschek, a former Army staff sergeant who had been shot eleven times and spent two year recovering at Walter Reed. Amid shouts of “Racist!” Maschek mounted the platform;
“It doesn’t matter how you feel about the war. It doesn’t matter how you feel about fighting,” said Maschek. “There are bad men out there plotting to kill you.”
Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.
Of course, the college’s main argument against allowing the ROTC back on campus had always been because of the ban on gays in the military, but since the ban has been lifted, they have find another excuse;
“Transpeople are part of the Columbia community,” said senior Sean Udell at the meeting, referring to the military’s current ban on transgender soldiers.
So, they don’t want to support war, but transgendered should be allowed to fight with the military, too? No wonder they’re still students.
Category: I hate hippies
Columbia, its faculty and staff, and its debt-ladened student body survive on the taking of money from people who don’t believe in Columbia, its mission or its values.
I recommend another tack: DOD put Columbia on the list of forbidden schools: it’s people are not good enough to serve, even as enlisted servicemembers.
Good on the sergeant for making the effort.
So now it’s trannies?
Color me surprised … not!
O-54
Yeah, me, too. Didn’t Jonn say something like that would come next? Heh.
He sure did, defend!
See, now what would you cal a he/she if it was an officer?
“YES NOT SURE WHAT I AM” nope doesn’t fit.
Notice how they sneered when he told them the truth. How many you suppose have any experience on the ills of the world other than what their teachers tell them.
It’s alright, they’ll be the first to go when the zombie apocalypse comes.
I think a reprise of Kent State might improve the quality of the Columbia student body.
This is atrocious, but Columbia does do very well when it comes to student veterans.
To take what DaveO said one step further, not only no Military funding support, but also:
Columbia doesn’t want to support the (only Constitutional) Federal government military program, Columbia should NOT be SUPPORTED BY ANY Federal funds whatsoever, in any way shape or form.
Root, hog, or die. Frankly, I wish they’d go under.
Why do we want an ROTC program in that moonbat pit? What does Columbia do so well that we need to pay 50,000/year tuition to get our officer larva educated?
I was an instructor at a NYC area NROTCU a few years back, and one of our Lieutenants-who lived in Manhattan and moonlighted as a sort of urban hipster douchebag, was all hot about getting Columbia affiliated with the unit. Thankfully, the unit CO was pretty much “We already have a glut of ensigns, so why pay the full retail price to make some more and FYNQ.”
P.S. If anything, in this dawning age of austerity, we ought to be paring back the Reserve Officer scholarships we give at the really pricey schools-yes, George Washington University, I am looking at you.
Because everybody here gets it right? Unless I am woefully uninformed (possible) the government pays the full sticker price that almost nobody else except foreigners pay to attend these “elite” institutions.
On second thougt, I can’t remember if it was a professor at Columbia or NYU that wished for “1,000 Mogadishus.” I’ll have to look into it.
Zedechek, it was a professor from Columbia.
@NotSoOldMarine..Or how about this one? They’ll be steaming piles of Posleen SHIT.

“Peace by persuasion has a pleasant sound, but I think we should not be able to work it. We should have to tame the human race first, and history seems to show that that cannot be done.” Mark Twain in a Letter to William T. Stead, 1/9/1899 While Colu…
The Columbia Spectator published a pro-ROTC editorial. I particularly enjoyed one of the commenters’ responses to the woman holding the sign reading “The military preys on low-income communities”; you fucks want economic equality in the military? Bring back the draft, without deferrals for school or any other such BS. How ’bout them apples toots? You set to sack up and bring a little of your own economic equality to the picture? Somehow, I doubt it.

Yo, fuckstick–go ahead and go to a job interview with black lipstick and a thong on and see how many offers you get.
Asshat.
