Miss San Antonio too fat?
I wouldn’t normally care on any of this, since pageants aren’t my thing, but….I actually met this young lady.
Anyway, first, the video:
Now, a couple of things. They don’t mention weight being an issue in the video here, but it is in the story:
The board says she violated the terms of her contract, did not attend required events, showed up late to appearances and gained weight…
“She was doing a photo shoot and asked to wear her wardrobe from the competition, but it did not fit her. I told her we need to get you on an exercise program. We need to get ready to compete for Miss Texas, just like any elite athlete,” Woods told ABCNews.com.
Um, really? “Elite athlete?” The only way I see the phrase “elite athlete” being included in this article appropriately is if it turns out here boy friend is Mark Sanchez. (Hey-OO!) Either way, does that girl look fat to you? Frankly, when I met her, I thought she looked freakishly like Summer Glau.
Anyway, my experience with pageant winners consisted of meeting Ms America Heather Renee French when she flubbed the National Anthem at the Legion Convention in like 2003. But this girl here was actually dedicating her year as Ms San Antonio to working with wounded troops. Specifically I met her when she was one of the presenters of lap top computers for Soldiers’ Angels Valour IT.
The article may be biased towards Dominique, but from the sounds of this passage, seems she has a pretty good case for Contract violations:
“The contract says she will be chaperoned and driven to every appearance and that her parents are not allowed to attend,” he said. “Then they would call her and say she needs to get to events on her own. At the time she just turned 16, how is she supposed to get there without her parents?”
Anyway, I hope she retains her crown, and gets to continue to dedicate her year to wounded vets. She seemed a really nice girl, and wounded Joes tend to like the fairer of our species, so they sort of light up everytime I saw them talking to her.

You have been awarded 153 Internetz for the Summer Glau reference and pic. And if she gains 5 pounds is it REALLY gonna matter that much, people?
5 pounds is nothing for you NHSparky.
All women should be so “fat,” and so well armed.
Seriously, why do they even let girls that young compete in pageants like that? Wasn’t this last Miss America just 17?
Props for the Summer Glau reference and yes, she does look like her (even if it appears she prefers slug-throwers to hand-to-hand violence).
You guys and your slinky, fantasy kung-fu killer babes… *eyeroll*
>Seriously, why do they even let girls that young compete in pageants like that? Wasn’t this last Miss America just 17?
I was thinking the same thing.. You want reliable you don’t “rely” on a 17 year old.
Summer Glau reminds me of Terminator.. and I am pissed they killed that program..Thanks, now you are bringing up bad memories for me. 😉
What’s all the big fuss over a Beauty Pageant anyway?
Yeah, I like to look at the young babes as much as the next testosterone-driven male, but really . . . . .
Summer Glau……
Anyway, 16, 17 year old young women? Isn’t that a time period where bodies are changing at a rapid pace? So wouldn’t it be logical that of course her outfits might not fit her later on? Having been a volunteer with a young women’s organization, I’ve seen this where a girl will wear a formal for an event and 3 months later it won’t fit because she has changed that much in that short a time.
Personally, I think all these are are meat markets anyway. The winners are determined by politics and appearance only. If they have a brain, nobody in charge cares.
