Protesting from a safe distance

| January 30, 2011

Someone sent me this video of a protest or something in Austin in support of the riots in Egypt;

Hundreds show solidarity with Egypt: kxan.com

A couple of things bother me about the video. One is that Karen Burke, an IVAW groupie, appears in the video. I wonder what her involvement is all about. Another thing that bothers me are these quotes from some interviewees;

“I love my country so much and I wanted to stand by my country,” said 7-year-old daughter Laila Tousson.

“I’m sending a message to my friends and family in Egypt saying you know we support you. Stay safe, be patient. It’s going to change. It takes a while but there’s a price to pay,” said Tarek Tousson.

“My country”? Then what are you doing here, protected by our tax dollars and Constitution? “…there’s a price to pay”? But not a price you’re willing to pay yourself, but others “should be patient” and continue to sacrifice while you sit in Austin, soaking up the sun and eating Whattaburgers? Nice. Carry your Egyptian ass back over there and fight for “your country” instead of cluttering up our sidewalks with your lazy, ungrateful ass.

I’ve noticed that the riots in the streets of Egypt have taken an anti-American tone, for no good reason, well, other than the fact that declaring your movement anti-American will get you more support from this administration than declaring your movement a pro-American movement. I guess that’s why you can find fat-ass IVAW groupies at pro-riot rallies.

The reason that the riots have taken an anti-US and anti-Western tone is that the Muslim Brotherhood is supporting these. News reports earlier today indicated that several prisons were attacked where, lo and behold, senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood were being kept. No matter how this truly started, it is my belief that these protests/riots have been hijacked by the Muslim Brotherhood and are being used to topple the government so it can be replaced with an Iranian style Islamic theocracy.

Call me crazy on this but if you get that in Egypt, Hezbollah controlling Lebanon, Hamas controlling Gaza and Syria/Iran funding and equipping it all, we are going to be in for a rough time in the near future. Not to mention Israel I can guarantee you is nervous and watching this closely. I won’t go so far to say that fire and hell are coming to the Middle East in massive quantities but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Word. If Egypt is “your country,” the GTFO.

Doc Bailey

You know its funny you’d think the democrats would wet their pants with joy over this. But because it happened on their watch and a REPUBLICAN called for more democracies in the middle east. . . not so much.

I served through the Carter era. I’ve seen this play before. I was hoping NOT to see another revolution high-jacked by Islamic nutters with a clueless Democrat in the White House, but it seems to be true that history repeats itself.

This thing in Egypt will NOT turn out well, for us, the world, and especially not for the Egyptian people.

One theory, as espoused over at Red State, has unions and other operatives of the Progressive Left facilitating the rebellions in Tunisia and Egypt.

Did any of these yahoos protest during Iran’s 2009 Green Revolution?

What scares the heck out of me is we have troops in the MFO… Who wants to bet that Obama still hasn’t given them the authority to load thier weapons…

Anonymous

According an Illinois news website, the troops we have there are several hundred miles from the nearest rioting. It’s an artillery battalion, MP company, and several support units from the IL National Guard.

Amazing how Obumble’s presidency nearly mirrors Carter’s. Now I see why Jimmuh is still sticking his face in the camera. Come 2012, people are going to forget about how shitty he was as president and Zero will become the new standard on how to fuck up royally in four years or less.

If you ever had a doubt on which side CNN stood in this, you can remove it all now. They stand squarely in support of the Islamic terrorists in the Muslim Brotherhood: CNN ANCHOR VIGOROUSLY PRAISES EGYPT’S MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD

“I’m asking about the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization that has tirelessly, and in many cases quite courageously, campaigned in elections, it has campaigned against the government, it has campaigned on behalf of the poor in Egypt. It has a long, long history in that country. What role should it have now?”

So, just so we’re clear, the MF-ing media believes that the Islamic terrorists of the Muslim Brotherhood are “courageous” in their actions, yet they smear the lies of the TEA Party and Sarah Palin as terrorists and evil-mongers.

I’ve only been paying attention to world events and politics since 9/12/2001. Has the MF-ing media always been this despicable and evil?

LoneStarInfantryman

whoa…Easy on the Whataburger! lol 🙂 But on a serious note… I saw the same type of thing today in one of the more well-to-do areas of Houston. something rubbed me wrong about the whole thing.

Funny how Ms. Amanpour stated this morning that she disagrees with those who are likening this to Carter’s time in office because they had the Ayatollah to deal with- and she knows because she’s been covering the ME for 20+ years.

These ISO idiots do this for everything. They show solidarity with people by not doing anything real to actually help people.

Spigot

Similar group of ass clowns on Country Club Plaza in KCMO this past weekend…

They need to get on the first thing smoking, headed to Cairo if they are so concerned about what’s going on back where they are FROM.

Plus, they were waving Egyptian flags around…WTF…are you now proud US citizens or not…figure it out.

Tman

You figure any riots or demonstrations around the world is going to feature their share of anti American morons, especially those in the middle east.

Hell we got our own share of these fools on our own shores, why wouldn’t they be elsewhere.

Joe

Maybe take a wait-and-see attitude, and remember the limits of US power. We may not have much say in how this goes down.

Old Trooper

Joe; I agree with the “wait and see” approach, however, it wouldn’t hurt to put out a little disclaimer that states “We don’t care who you vote to lead your country, because that’s your choice. However, if you block the Suez Canal, we will turn your country into a parking lot. If you threaten your neighbors, we will turn your country into a parking lot. If you fuck with us, we will turn your country into a parking lot. Basically, Egypt, the takeaway from this is, fuck-up=parking lot.”

Doc Bailey

the sad fact is that were it not for the Suez, Mubarak would have been gone long ago. Its really the only reason we supported him. I don’t foresee it being feasible to maintain US control of the Suez, for any period of time, but should that be required. . . we better be damn clear thats ALL we want.

I’m really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays..
