Phony embezzles from Ohio company
Jason “Dakota” Manning, 32, applied for his job at Vision Matters in Cincinnati, OH highlighting his military service according to the Daytona Daily News;
In a resume provided to Vision Matters, Manning, 32, of Cincinnati, claimed to be the recipient of two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star with a Cluster and a list of other military honors, according to police records.
Now authorities looking for Manning — in connection with allegations that he embezzled more than $5,000 from Vision Matters, a Warren County-based provider of services to developmentally disabled — also suspect Manning is guilty of stolen valor.
Yeah, a Silver Star with a cluster…a cluster of what? Police say, despite the fact that Manning claimed he had eight years of service, turns out he had three months of service.
“Had precise missions to combat foreign hostilities in Somalia, Haiti and Bosnia,” Manning said in the resume obtained by Clearcreek Twp. police during their investigation.
It also indicates he was an executive officer for more than a year and graduated from a variety of training schools.
“In charge of tactics, intel and communications for the Joint Special Operations Command (Southern Division),” according to the final line of the resume’s education section.
Under medals/awards/achievements, Manning listed “Two Purple Hearts, Silver Star w/Cluster, Army Distinguished Service Cross,” as well as Defense Distinguished Service and Joint Service Commendations medals and a medal for prisoners of war in Bosnia.
I wonder how he escaped from that Bosnian POW camp.

I kinda love how being a combat veteran is suddenly vogue. Yet 30 years ago admitting you were a combat veteran was libel to get you shown the god damn door. I am sick of this fad, I’m sure its old as time but since Stolen Valor, it seems like they pop out of the woodwork every five seconds.
Doc, I was just discussing this with some of the old guys the other day. Usually nobody even asked us if we were in the military. Most job applications just had : Military Service, Yes/No, From To. Honorable Discharge: Yes/NO. That’s it. Most of us tried ONCE to mention we’d been in Vietnam and had leadership skills. We were shown the door quickly. We learned never to mention we had been in Vietnam and many of us would not even put down that we were in the military anymore.
I am confused though about his Silver Star. Would that be like a Peanut Cluster or w/Clusterfuck? Also I notice he lists it above that crappy DSC.
Honor and Courage
AirCav69, the cluster would be for a second award. i.e., he’s claiming he has 2 Silver Stars.
This one is just getting stranger and stranger. Visions Matter (the company he was applying with) provides services for the Developmentally Disabled. What the devil was he even DOING spouting off about non-existent military awards when he was applying for a job providing things like “non-medical transport” and “day support services”??
I knew this guy from years ago. Someone told me to look him up. He used to wear scrubs and claim he was premed. And that he had a tumor. We checked his “facts” fast. He still was able to con his girlfriend (now wife). Makes me sick.
