Some of the newer things going around on Facebook, Conservatives growing weary of Afghan war: study

A new survey commissioned by the Afghanistan Study Group reveals that conservatives and tea party voters are growing concerned about the sustainability of US operations in Afghanistan.

Sixty-six percent of conservatives said the US should diminish its military presence in Afghanistan — 39 percent supported reduced troop levels while 27 percent championed prompt withdrawal.

The only time I have ever heard people call for a draw down is that the President should go all in our all out, not a in between. But this is being passed around as it it is a sudden change that the those against the Wars are winning political ground.

Of course that means putting out more videos like this one by Kathy Kelly.

Just back from Afghanistan, Kathy talks about the impact of the war, Afghan desires for non-military solutions, and the role of the US peace movement.

The second part can be found here.

Of course videos like this would not be complete without anti-recruiting videos.

Straight talk from soldiers, veterans and their family members tells what is missing from the sales pitches presented by recruiters and the military’s marketing efforts.

So in short everything is your fault you blood thirsty bastard, but we really care about you.

I’d be more concerned about the sustainability of the war based on things like the budget cuts that the DOD is ramming down the throats of the Armed Services and the cuts to weapons and equipment. That coupled with all these policy/culture changes in the military, to me, aren’t going to do anything except degrade the capabilities which usually results in lives lost. And that is unacceptable in my book.

For some reason, I foresee “peace” be declared in 2014 and US troops leaving whether the mission is accomplished or not. And the consequences be damned according to the politicians.

I wish the MP’s had ducked taped her mouth. She gives me a headache.

I guess now it’s left to us Independents to defend the cause of defending the Nation from terrorism.

There’s a reason I vote issues, not party. Make sure your party understands that, whichever party you like.

My representative (Jason Chaffetz) is a very conservative republican. But he has been calling for a withdrawal from Afghanistan for quite a long time now. Rep. Campbell (R-CA) has also been calling for much larger cuts to the defense budget. They are not alone. Twenty-three conservative leaders have contacted Boehner and McConnell to request further cuts in the defense budget. In 2008 Admiral Mullen stated there would be deep cuts in personnel over the next few years. I don’t believe this would be any different regardless of the party in charge.

It used to be the military was castrated after the end of major wars, now it seems that people want to do so DURING the war… next time there’s a major world war, I can tell you who the victor ISN’T going to be, at the rate we’re going…

Nice to know those who risk nothing are getting tired of the war. Troops certainly are getting tired of getting shot at, blown up, mortared, rocketed, and living in stone-age hovels, but glad to know the folks at home are “weary of war.”

Don’t believe it. The only thing I’M weary over is the political nonsense that our troops are laboring under.

And no one has ever asked MY opinion of any of it. Or anyone I know, either.
