In O’Malley vs. Erlich debate O’Malley calls illegals “new Americans”
Gregory Kane at the Washington Examiner picked up on the latest PC term for illegal aliens in the lexicon of of Marty O’Malley, the current (and soon-to-be-former) governor of Maryland in his debate with former (and soon-to-be-again) governor, Robert Ehrlich;
“There is this nativism rising up and this desire to blame new Americans for the problems in our economy.”
Yeah, he said it. And Ehrlich was quick to pounce on the gaffe.
“If somebody breaks in my house, is that a new member of my family that night?”
Kane continues;
The phrase O’Malley should have used in lieu of “new Americans” is “new Marylanders.” The nation’s leading sanctuary state east of the Mississippi has created its own criteria for state citizenship.
Yeah, when I lived in Montgomery County, I had to be bilingual to get just about anything from local retailers. During my three years of residence in Maryland it got progressively worse and we were pretty much forbidden to discuss it. One family of Peruvians who ran the local chicken joint “Pollo Rico” were here legally but got busted for not paying their taxes and hiring illegals. The next day, it was like a ghost town because the illegals thought George Booosh was personally going to hunt them down and deport them. There was no line at my barber shop. Of course, the only barbers that were there were legals – luckily, Carlos, my Paraguayan barber, and the ony guy in the free world who knows how to cut my hair apparently, was legal.
The Montgomery County Police Chief almost went as far as to promise all of the illegals in Montgomery County free blow jobs if they’d come out and stand on street corners and beg for work. He promised he wouldn’t arrest them for being criminals. I guess he needed gardeners that weekend.
But, that’s O’Malley – punish the legal residents with higher taxes and encourage illegals to come in and take their jobs. Go ahead Maryland, vote O’Malley back.

As a resident of Montgomery County, I’ll be looking for the escape route if things go badly on Election Day. But good on Erlich for catching the gaffe.
Truth be told, I can’t get excited about the immigration situation in Maryland.
Illegals tend to be associated with high crime, be leeches on government assistance and public services, and drive very badly and cause accidents. I can’t see how that’s really that much different from their legal and native born Maryland neighbors.
Same situation here in the People’s Republic of Maine.
Calling illegals ‘new Americans’ is like calling bank robbers ‘new money’. May Ehrlich continue to expose O’Malley as the good shepherd of the sanctuary state and call for the re-establishment of the rule of law here in Maryland.

Those racist democrats think all people of color visiting the US want to be Americans, you know some just want to visit for a while, earn a little money to help out at home then go back.
I’d shake the hand of any illegal that just “earned a little money to help out at home then [went] back.”
If O’Mally believed his own words he’d put “new American’s” on the state payroll and create a budget surplus. But even O’Mally knows he’s full of (liberal ideas).
