Brain freeze in MN

| October 5, 2010

One of our loyal readers sent me a link to his local “progressive” rag from up in Minnesota called “mnpACT” See how it almost makes a word, but then it doesn’t…clever hippies. Anyway, the author Alan Anderson starts right off letting us know that he hasn’t got an original or clear thought in his adled skull;

Recent revelations about the killing and turmoil in Iraq and the corruption and dysfunction in Afghanistan should reinforce in the minds of most Americans that the wars in both countries have turned into some of the biggest disasters in the history of our nation. Yes, I remember that a group of Saudi radicals attacked the World Trade Center with airplanes. Of course that was a tragic day. No one disputes that.

That “tragic day” after thought really gets me – it’s the same thing the Left did after Clinton left office – “Oh, I hated him, too” they always said right before they’d tell us how he was a great president. It’s just something you say, ya know, to establish your creds in the discussion. of course he doesn’t think 9-11 was a tragic day…he thinks we deserved it. Besides what we did to Iraq and Afghanistan was much worse, right?

But, even more tragic is that we responded in dumb ways, declaring war on a country that had nothing to do with the 9/11 event (even President Bush acknowledged that), a country that didn’t have weapons of mass destruction (as we were told in order to sway public opinion to back the war), a country that has had to endure 7 years of war, the loss of hundreds of thousands of civilians, a country decimated by the exodus of more than half their doctors and other professionals, a country that has millions of children orphaned by death of parents, and a country in political disarray that can’t even select their own leaders and run their own government.

Oh, yeah, NONE of that shit happened before we arrived in March, 2003, right? Then why do I remember a few hundred Iraqis in front of the White House in 1999 protesting the US/UN sanctions against Iraq? All of them wearing the finery of this country and their ample stomachs hanging over their Italian made belts? Iraqis have been fleeing Iraq and made orphans for decades. Does that justify any of the unnecessary violence that might have perpetrated against some of them? Nope. But it would have been nice if they’d helped us drag their country into the 19th century.

It is time to stop this craziness and begin to realize that only through a removal of the war option will any healing be possible.

Yeah, tell that to those doctors who were murdered in Afghanistan this last summer. They didn’t even have guns…all they brought was help to the locals. And they paid for it with their lives. I’d like to see Alan pry his fat ass out of his La-Z-Boy and do something besides flap his gums (or bang his keys) to bring this war to an end. Nope he’d rather sit in the comfort of his trailer and fan the flames with his uneducated blather.

Make no mistake, if you are an American you have blood on your hands. It is time to begin to cleanse ourselves of the horrors we have perpetrated on the world and move to a place where we honor life….to become really pro-life, and not just worry about whether fetuses survive, but whether children in Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan will ever have a chance at a normal life.

Feel guilty about “the blood on your hands”? Me neither. That line about children over there having a “normal life” is real killer. Girls are afraid to go to school lest someone throw acid on their faces for the crime of learning.

After Desert Storm, my unit went back to Iraq to man a screen to protect the Shi’ites who were fleeing from Saddam’s armies in their own country. If that wasn’t horrible enough, a busload of Shi’ites would pull up to our checkpoint loaded with fleeing women children and men. Some were wounded, others were not.

One of my men threw a box of oranges we had left over from breakfast down on the ground, because even though we weren’t supposed to, it was part of the American soldiers’ nature to be kind to other people who aren’t shooting at us. Of course, the nimble kids made it to the box first and wolfed down the juicy fruit. As the men caught up, they tossed the kids aside like rag dolls. They tore the fruit from the hungry tiny mouths and smacked the kids brutally.

Of course, my guys wanted to interfere, but I wouldn’t let them. Our yelling and gesturing brought a bit of calm to the moment. We took the oranges from the men forced them back on the bus and we never handed out any of our food to any more refugees to prevent the abuse we’d just witnessed.

I think there’s a moral to that story somewhere, but since I’m unable to articulate it…GFY, Alan. When you drag your fat ass out of Minnesota and look at that shit yourself, you might have earned a right to preach to us. Until such time, STFU.

Jonn, I cannot tell you HOW much I loathe the Progressives in Minnesota. I was stationed there for Recruiting Duty fro 1986 until 1990. They were the bane of my existence. For the life of me, I cannot explain their sheer lunacy. They would hold protests at MEPS, when the REAL place they should have been protesting was at the Bishop Henry Whipple Government building. Deet de Deet…. After I retired, I moved to MN, mainly because of my now ex-wife. There are PLENTY of GOOD people in MN, but it seems that the metro area is rife with the lunatic fringe. Without getting into some serious allegations and to put it succinctly, Minneapolis is filled with leeches that suck the Government tete, College students, terrorists (Little Somalia), and people that are generally anti-military. Once one leaves the slums of the metro area, life returns to a normalcy of every day Americans. Sure, some are liberal, (I should say, “Dems”), but they’re fairly moderate. A good majority are conservatives. Either way, they support our country, our troops and look upon the military with favor. It’s only the rotting stench of the metro that has these hard core lunatic fringe elements. The sad fact is that the Metro area pretty much runs the state, mainly because of the population density.

“The sad fact is that the Metro area pretty much runs the state, mainly because of the population density.”

Sounds like how it is in both Michigan (Detroit) and Illinois (Chicago).

The good/bad news is that Detroit is getting smaller and smaller as people move out of the deteriorating city. Unfortunately, many people are taking their liberal voting tendencies North from Wayne County to Oakland County and spreading the liberalism around.

In addition, many people (the smart ones and those who smart/lucky enough to sell their houses and get out of this State) have moved out of the State to find jobs elsewhere. Which is great for them, but the people left behind are mostly liberal and Democrat voters and those who are slaves to the unions and their crappy policies.

There is a great Tea Party presence here and the major AM Radio voices out of the Detroit Metro area are conservative (Frank Beckman, Paul W. Smith on AM 760 WJR, which also has Rush, Hannity and Levin), so there is reason for some optimism. We’ll know more come NOV though if the very liberal Bernero wins the Governor race or if Michiganders finally wise up and vote in the conservative-ish Snyder.

Jonn,

Thor will probably agree with me on this; Anderson more than likely lives in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, somewhere around the Lake/Hennepin intersection, or over by the U of M 7 Corners area, but definetly not in a trailer. He’s too elitist for that.

Jerry920

I spent 7 years in MN at Camp Ripley as AGR. Minnesota is 2 states. In the rural areas are good, hard working mostly conservative people. In the Twin Cities it’s good, hard working, hard-core liberal elitist. It’s the kind of state that can elect both Jesse Ventura and Paul Welstone.

Joe

Always fascinating to witness the logical contortions you will go thru Jonn to justify your point of view. “in 1990 we saw a bunch of guys steal oranges from some kids, so we were justified in invading in 2003”. Wow!

UpNorth

Joey, Joey, you’re projecting again, like any good lib does. And your grasp of any fact at all is as dismal as it is in the Fire Department thread.

Joe

I cannot find anything to disagree with in what Alan Anderson says in your citations from the website except perhaps for the complete removal of “the war option”. The option should always be there, just used as an absolute last resort. Other than that, everything he says rings true. And I can tell by the angry, rambling, anecdotal response that he has hit a nerve with you Jonn.

NHSparky

Gee Joe, you think war was used as OTHER than a last resort? By all means, provide any and all evidence to back your claim.

Alan is acting like a douchenozzle who has no fucking clue of which he speaks–kinda like you, Joe.

Joe

NHS,
You MUST be kidding…….

NHSparky

No, I’m not kidding. You’re a douchenozzle who has no fucking clue of which you speak.

Joe

Jonn,
I’m what you might call a leftist, but I like what JFK said – “I’m an idealist with no illusions”. Chatting with you guys will strip away any illusions……

Thor

Old Trooper, probably so….. (I’m thinking “Dinkytown” area)

Jerry, when was the last time you visited or lived in MN?? I left in Mar 2008. The metro area has NEVER been full of “hard working Liberals”, that I’m aware of. Your statement: “In the Twin Cities it’s good, hard working, hard-core liberal elitist” seems to be an oxymoron to me. And, you’re fairly wrong on rural MN. Most of them are DFLers (Democrat Farm Labor party, akin to the Dem Party) They are far more conservative than the DFLers in the metro, though. The immediate suburbs to the metro area voted 60% Republican during the 2004 & 2006 elections, at least by county. (Sherburne, Dakota, etc) I know exactly WHY Jesse won, too. It wasn’t because he was so great, but more that the other two choice pretty much sucked. A RINO (Norm Coleman, who “conveniently” switched from Dem to GOP before the 1998 election) and a Humphrey.

Joe

Jonn,
Do you get some kind of credit when people just click on the ads without actually buying something? If so, I’ll click away. Even though I don’t agree with most of what is said on this site, I commend you for the hard work involved in keeping the site up. Who knows, I may be good for your business – every time I post something there are beaucoup replies, so that can’t be a bad thing……

NHSparky

Every time you post most people just shake their heads and are confirmed in their suspicions of why tigers eat their young.

Joe

Well, NHS, that’s what tigers (and conservatives?) do, but I hope most homo sapiens will refrain from the practice…..

UpNorth

Joey, at least some homo sapiens abort their young. Same shit, different name. And conservatives? Not so much. But then, I doubt you hope they refrain from that practice.

streetsweeper

gotta tell you something, Joe ol buddy. Not sure of my standing here but, I do know this much. Jonn is a pretty fair man all the way across the board and one of very few men walking the face of this planet, that I’m willing to cover his six.

So step up, take your lumps and bruises like everybody else he allows to enter this here lil joint…If anyone around can biotch and loudly about treatment, it’d have to be Army Sergeant. And since she keeps on a coming back, I’d be willing to cover her six as well.

Point is, we don’t exactly agree on everything. We’re all AD (yes, its known the Pentagon hangs out too) & veterans here, When push comes to shove, everybody falls in formation and we get the damn job done.

Would you like one or two lumps with your cup of whining, sir?

Joe

Well streetsweeper,
I’m not the only one who whines here, I just whine about different things. I have great ambivalence, as well as grudging respect for Jonn, and for a lot of the contributors to this site. I mean how can you be totally against men and women who stepped up and risked everything to defend people like me, or at least did what they thought was the right thing, even if it turned out not to be the case. But I do enjoy a good argument, and until such time as Jonn blocks me from posting I will continue to drop in from time to time to express my (usually contrary) views. 1st amendment and all that. You wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?

Joe

To streetsweeper (continued…)
And I don’t doubt Jonn would be a good neighbor, even come over and feed my cat if I asked him to. I wish he could extend the cordiality he obviously shows to his friends, coworkers and neighbors to American citizens in general.

Jacobite

” I wish he could extend the cordiality he obviously shows to his friends, coworkers and neighbors to American citizens in general.”

Joe, when you boil away everything else, that is exactly what Jonn would do, and to a degree, does of his own free will. I believe the fundamental gripe is with the government, or any outside agency, forcing him or anyone else to do it based on the idea that they somehow know better than he how best to utilize what ever resources he has at his disposal.

streetsweeper

Joe;

Whining is whining; The subject doesn’t matter and a fact you gotta get used to. I really highly doubt Lilyea will block you from posting.

Besides, a cat toy is a useful object around here every now and then, hehe. And? Jacobite points it out to you quite well.

Keep coming back, prove your worth and you’ll most likely fit right in.
